eyeo’s market-leading ad-filtering technology powers products like Adblock Plus and AdBlock as well as technical integrations for popular browsers. Our solutions empower users to control their online experience and privacy, while providing monetization for content creators, publishers and advertisers.

In combining our partnerships and our subsidiary products, our technology reaches 250 million monthly active users worldwide.

eyeo is a global employer of over 300 people working remotely in more than 30 countries with offices in Cologne, Berlin, Toronto and Malmö.

How we work

eyeo has colleagues based all over the world. We love our diversity and our company culture. We practice an agile, remote workstyle with work distributed in cross-functional teams that span nearly every timezone. Many of our tech teams prefer to work asynchronously. If working remotely isn’t for you, we also have two offices (Cologne and Berlin) that you can choose to work from. Twice a year we come together with our teams for Team Days and once a year we offer an offsite company retreat, Summer Week. By offering remote work and in-person sessions, we have built a hybrid culture that provides a unique dynamic of flexibility and belonging.

What you'll do

In this role, you will represent eyeo in committees in which the technical standards for the web and advertising are defined, to ensure on the one hand that eyeo gains influence and on the other hand inform internally as early as possible about currently discussed approaches. In addition, you will represent eyeo in tech communities to build eyeo’s reputation as a tech and product company to a broader audience.

You will be part of the Public Affairs team, in which we bundle our efforts in industry-, government-, and tech relations. Our mission for tech relations is to build credibility in the tech community and shape how technical standards evolve.

As our Developer Advocate, you will be responsible for our tech relations, by leading our public-facing initiatives in developer communities and standard organizations, as well as by coordinating internally with eyeo teams, such as product, engineering and marketing, and subsidiaries.

After your morning routine, you'll be expected to…

  • Engage with the developer community and advocate for eyeo’s products and purpose
  • Identify risks and opportunities for eyeo’s product portfolio with regards to changing (web) standards and other newly technical standards in our ecosystem
  • Support and drive our efforts on tech advocacy and tech marketing
  • Represent eyeo in the developer community as a regular attendee and speaker at industry events and meet-ups
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for events, publications, programs, and other community-focused work that increase eyeo’s footprint and trust in the tech landscape

What you bring to the table…

  • Related job experience in developer relations and/or in (web) standards
  • Strong technical background, specially in web technologies
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience in advocating on technical topics and building relationships
  • Existing relevant network within the developer community and/or tech landscape at large
  • Proven track record of external facing activities (e.g., talks, publications, etc.)
  • Track record of successfully collaborating with and across teams
  • A self-motivated mindset to successfully and independently manage and prioritize strategic and operational tasks

It's awesome if you …

  • Have experience in the digital advertising industry
  • Have experience in leading technical standardization groups, such as W3C, IAB Tech Lab working groups

What we offer

  • Work remotely or from one of our offices —we trust you to find what works best for you
  • Budget for the following: home office and/or relocation
  • Flexible working hours
  • 28 days paid vacation + Volunteer day
  • Sabbatical leave allowance
  • Your choice of hardware and setup
