Twilio.org is the social impact arm of Twilio, focused on powering social impact organizations to scale their reach and impact with Twilio’s product, capital, and people.

Although we're headquartered in San Francisco, we have presence throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. We're on a journey to becoming a global company that actively opposes racism and all forms of oppression and bias. At Twilio, we support diversity, equity inclusion wherever we do business.

About the job

This position is needed to support existing, as well as develop and launch new, strategy-aligned social impact opportunities and partnerships that are proven to boost employee engagement, while fostering equitable long-term wellbeing for communities around the world, with a particular focus on engaging employees in North America and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

At Twilio, we believe in utilizing our business as a force for good. We are committed to tackling our world’s most critical social issues through our product, capital and people. Reporting to the Vice President of Social Environmental Impact and working in partnership with the Social Impact Specialist, the Senior Manager, Employee Impact will have the exciting opportunity to drive the strategy and execution of our employee impact program, WePledge 1% (WP1). WP1 invites employees to pledge 1 percent of time or financial resources to causes important to them with robust support from Twilio. As part of our employee impact team, you’ll inspire Twilions to take the pledge to become part of Twilio’s social impact movement - and create opportunities for them to fulfill it. Join our team and help us create an outsized impact in the world.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager, Employee Impact on the Twilio.org team, you will:

  • Champion and grow the employee impact program. Endeavor to engage more than 50% of Twilions in volunteering, giving and education through a combination of company-designed and personal activities with an emphasis on high-impact, skilled volunteering. Identify and build partnerships with nonprofit organizations, with a specific focus on partnerships based in EMEA, to create shared value and more opportunities for employees to live their pledge, with the ultimate goal of supporting Twilio's Theory of Change to drive equitable outcomes in the areas of humanitarian response, equitable long-term wellbeing, and climate action.
  • Present strategic recommendations to leadership on how to increase employee participation in social impact initiatives. Contribute to the management and revision of detailed project plans to stay organized and support the management of a metrics tracker to ensure we’re hitting goals. Partner with the marketing team to share the story of our social impact work inside and outside of the organization as a means of encouraging greater action and impact.
  • Reinvent how employees “do good”. Break the mold when it comes to traditional volunteering programs that can be more work for nonprofits than actually meaningful. Draw on social sector knowledge and leverage the passion of our employees to create programs that make a real difference.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to weave WePledge 1% programming into what it means to be a Twilion, keeping in mind interdependencies needed for successful implementation.
  • Create a range of geographically and culturally relevant activities to make it easy, fun and meaningful for employees to participate.
  • Endeavor to usher in the next new or innovative approach to employee impact through experimentation. Choose iterative progress over designing the perfect solution no one uses.
