Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Remote - Anywhere(Open to applicants located anywhere around the globe.)

As a Senior Systems Engineer at 10up, you are an integral part of supporting websites and solutions utilized by millions of people daily. 10uppers have been pushing the boundaries of WordPress for over 12 years—become a systems engineer that helps support exciting projects alongside a top-in-the-field team.

You’ll work on a combination of unique, challenging projects and ongoing support engagements that help season your skills. What you will do:

• Provide expertise on all parts of Linux systems, keeping everything running smoothly, including patches, upgrades, and capacity planning.
• Make hosting recommendations to clients and architect custom cloud solutions using Infrastructure as Code
• Solve the difficult system problems on client servers (including DNS, CDN, WAF, and hosted cloud appliances).
• Continually improve the security and reliability of client sites with the latest tactics, tools, and policies developed at 10up.
• Ultimately you will make the web better by supporting apps, and tools that reach millions of online visitors every day.

About you:

• You are familiar with the day-to-day technical needs of a webserver, including scaling, security, and performance.
• You are comfortable with Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, etc.) and Linux shell scripting
• Your expertise is NGINX, Apache, and MySQL configuration and troubleshooting for WordPress installations.
• You have hands-on experience with Docker or container orchestration with Ansible, Puppet or Chef.
• You prefer to work fully remote and communicate effectively in distributed environments with peers as well as clients..
• You have excellent written and verbal skills, communicating effectively with peers as well as the client
