Job Description

About Pinterest:

Millions of people across the world come to Pinterest to find new ideas every day. It’s where they get inspiration, dream about new possibilities and plan for what matters most. Our mission is to help those people find their inspiration and create a life they love. In your role, you’ll be challenged to take on work that upholds this mission and pushes Pinterest forward. You’ll grow as a person and leader in your field, all the while helping Pinners make their lives better in the positive corner of the internet.

Creating a life you love also means finding a career that celebrates the unique perspectives and experiences that you bring. As you read through the expectations of the position, consider how your skills and experiences may complement the responsibilities of the role. We encourage you to think through your relevant and transferable skills from prior experiences.

Our new progressive work model is called PinFlex, a term that’s uniquely Pinterest to describe our flexible approach to living and working. Visit our PinFlex landing page to learn more.

Pinterest is a company like no other. And this is a time like no other. We’ve spent the last decade building one of the world’s most beloved products. Now it’s time for us to build one of the world’s most beloved brands. We’ve earned the right to tell bigger stories than ever before. That’s where you come in.

You’ll be the writer behind some of our most exciting marketing campaigns to date. You're right for this role because you have tons of experience crafting compelling copy that changes people's minds. You’re just as skilled at writing campaign concepts and manifestos as you are at drafting film scripts and buzzy copy. You think big and are unafraid to pitch wild, wacky ideas that will change people’s minds. And you can't wait to work with our creative and marketing partners to develop and write campaigns that bring new, inspiring consumers to Pinterest.

What you’ll do:

  • Write, edit, repeat. From award-winning campaign concepts and videos to advertising scripts and manifestos, you’ll be the pen behind the Pin.
  • Think big. Come up with out-of-the-box ideas for campaigns, product launches, activations, and brand partnerships. Then bring them to life, strategically.
  • Find the most urgent, compelling insights that will change consumer perception and behavior. Use them to inform the stories you tell.
  • Become a steward of the Pinterest brand voice. Study our voice and tone, and apply it to all copy touch points.
  • Collaborate, collaborate, collaborate. Partner regularly with cross-functional teams at Pinterest—from our in-house research team to our world-class events team.
  • Become obsessed with the Pinterest audience—how they think and what will change their minds. Study them so that you can write for them. Do the hard work so they don’t have to.

What we’re looking for:

  • You want to make big ideas that make an impact and get famous in culture.
  • You know how to hone an insight, articulate a concept, help sell it through, and perfect every detail all the way through execution.
  • You've worked in high-paced, iterative creative environments before. You have experience writing 100+ lines in a couple days, gleaning feedback and creating a fresh batch for review in a week's time.
  • You're able to pick up a brand's voice and stay committed to learning and understanding the way the tone and voice are expressed across the brand. You don't shy away from asking questions, learning new things and sharing your ideas.
  • You're confident under pressure. Your work—and your words—will be literally put in front of hundreds of millions of people. You take that opportunity (and responsibility!) seriously.

Relocation Statement:

  • This position is not eligible for relocation assistance. Visit our PinFlex page to learn more about our working model.

In-Office Requirement Statement:

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times every 6-months and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.

At Pinterest we believe the workplace should be equitable, inclusive, and inspiring for every employee. In an effort to provide greater transparency, we are sharing the base salary range for this position. The position is also eligible for equity. Final salary is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant prior experience, or particular skills and expertise.
