Qualus is a sustainable leather production technology company that develops and commercializes Sferes™, a patented system of polymer granules designed to reduce water, chemicals, and energy consumption in leather tanning. Founded in 2013 and based on research from the University of Northampton, the company enables tanneries worldwide to produce higher-quality leather more sustainably while lowering production costs. Their technology replaces much of the water traditionally used in the retanning process and delivers chemicals more effectively, reducing both input requirements and waste output. Qualus works with tanneries supplying luxury industries including automotive, footwear, and high-end goods, with production facilities currently operating in India, Mexico, Brazil, and France.
