Purpose The Business Development Manager – Automotive is responsible for leading and executing CPA’s Automotive growth strategy, with a primary focus on driving new business development across multilocation and large single-site Automotive customers. This role partners closely with Sellers to accelerate pipeline creation and conversion, supports Business Managers in advancing supplier strategies and financial performance, and strengthens key supplier relationships to deliver above-market growth. Additionally, the position oversees the development and expansion of business with OEMs and large multilocation molders to further enhance CPA’s presence and impact within the Automotive marketplace.

Strategic Responsibilities:
Lead and execute the Automotive growth strategy, with a laser focus on generating new business, expanding CPA presence within key Automotive segments, and delivering above-market growth.
Drive a disciplined pipeline management process across Sellers, Business Managers, and strategic suppliers to ensure consistent pipeline build, qualification, and acceleration to close.
Equip and enable Sellers for success by delivering targeted training on new product introductions, supply strategy priorities, and Automotive market opportunities that directly support new business wins.
Jointly engage target accounts with strategic supplier partners to unlock new opportunities, strengthen supplier alignment, and expand CPA’s value proposition with OEMs and large multilocation molders.
Collaborate with Business Managers to develop, refine, and execute a comprehensive Automotive business strategy, ensuring alignment of supply strategy, supplier partnerships, and financial outcomes.
Provide market intelligence and competitive insights to Sellers and Business Managers to guide opportunity identification, solution positioning, and supplier strategy within the Automotive marketplace.
Essential Tasks:
Support field sales in identifying, developing, and closing high-value Automotive opportunities, including direct customer engagement and joint visits that accelerate deal closure and organic growth.
Match supplier capabilities, product solutions, and technical resources with customer needs— partnering closely with Business Managers and Technical Service to ensure the right solutions for every opportunity.
Maintain a robust and accurate CRM pipeline, ensuring visibility of opportunity status, next steps, and forecasted growth to drive accountability and sustained business expansion.
Develop territory-level Automotive business plans based on target data, supplier strategies, and market intelligence to guide Seller focus and drive new business execution.
Increase exposure and adoption of CPA brands by partnering with CPA Business Development Managers and leveraging supplier programs and market insights.
Collaborate with Marketing to build and deploy Automotive-specific marketing initiatives, trade show strategies, promotional campaigns, and customer-facing materials that support new business growth.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree or related training. Equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree.
Experience:
Proven experience with 5+ years of experience in selling, brand management and strategy development in polymers preferred
Licenses / Certifications:
Valid driver’s license – required
