    Prof Vet Affairs Consultant - 8 Month Contract

    The Professional Vet Affairs Consultant plays an integral role in positioning Hill’s in the profession as an important scientific, innovative and credible partner who is engaged in improving the health of dogs and cats and in supporting the profession.

    The PVAC actively communicates Hill’s Pet Nutrition Science to customers in all customer segments that result in active recommendation and endorsement of Hill’s products in Canadian veterinary clinics. The role works closely with the Professional Veterinary Affairs Director, Regional PCV(s), and the Regional Sales Manager to plan and/or implement strategy-driven initiatives for key target audiences including: Key Thought Leaders; practicing veterinarians, RVTs and clinic veterinary nutritional consultants, veterinary and pet specialty corporate accounts and pet stores on occasion. 

    The PVAC is responsible for regional planning and implementation of the Hill’s Canada Professional Veterinary Affairs plan, which is an important contributor to the BRUT (Brand Recommended, Used and Trusted) company-wide KPI. The position is critical to strengthening the Veterinary Health Care Team (VHCT) understanding and knowledge of our products and to making nutrition a more integral part of veterinary medicine. 

    This position plans, supports and/or executes the regional activation strategy developed by the PVA Director, regional PCV and Customer Development team; consulting with customers, providing technical expertise that supports customer initiatives, and partnering with Territory Managers on strategic initiatives in high potential accounts.

    Engage veterinary healthcare teams according to the regional activation plans to build the business and position Hill’s as an important, scientific, innovative and credible partner who is committed to improving pet health. 

    • Influence practice success and establish Hill’s as the preferred partner for customers identified by Customer Development as high potential, through nutritional education (workshops, seminars and educational events) and technical support for key team members, in clinics, and at local and regional conferences and events

    Support the planning and Execution of Regional Education Plans.

    • Help plan and organize national or regional educational events (financial planning, budget tracking, booking venues, managing invitations and attendees, creating and executing the communication plan). 

    • Identify, target and prioritize opportunities for education and engagement programs for VHCT on topics aligned with the PVA objectives. 

    • Deliver educational lectures and seminars to diverse audiences (students and VHCT members).

    • Identify potential external speakers, develop speaking engagement opportunities and host and moderate CE events. 

    • Identify and pursue Education agreements and sponsorship opportunities with local, regional and national organizations.

    Act as a technical and strategic resource for Hill’s Territory Managers

    Engage in educational conversations with VHCT during ride-withs with Hill’s Territory managers. 

    Provide answers to sales team on specific technical questions from clinics and pet stores that need clarification and a solution

    Work closely with Regional Sales Manager to improve and perfect territory manager technical and product expertise as necessary through training, coaching and field work 

    Partner with Regional Sales Manager to support regional training needs and provide product training at Regional Meetings and one on one in field with territory managers.

      TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Work from home is typically 10-15%, day travel is required approximately 65% of the time and overnight travel is required approximately 20% of the time. Candidates should be based in the greater Montreal area.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Professional degree in veterinary medicine (DVM, VMD or equivalent) or is a Registered Veterinary Technician with 3+ years of clinical practice experience; current, active license to practice in the province of Quebec (or equivalent). 

    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

    • Strong analytical skills and basic understanding of business and business terminology.

    • Able to work independently to manage a demanding schedule with irregular hours and to manage travel within geography/region.

    • Self-starter with high initiative, strong work ethic and high integrity.

    • General computer skills, strong organization and time management skills, ability to work independently.

    • Proven sales experience in a related industry is a benefit. 

    Compensation Salary Range $105,300.00 - $122,850.00 CAD per year Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and work or office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive Canada Inc. / Hill’s Pet Nutrition Canada Inc. offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
