Senior DevOps Engineer (m/w/d)

Your Responsibilities:

• Operations & Support: Working closely with our business analysts and customers, you’ll analyze new requirements and incidents, handle day-to-day system support, assist with planning, and serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for third-level support.

• Security: You ensure compliance with high security requirements and support the implementation and continuous improvement of our Information Security Management System (ISMS – ISO 27001).

• Development: You design and develop sophisticated web applications and interfaces for various projects. You will also manage our existing, web service-oriented core applications.

• Operations: Together with the other DevOps team members, you will take charge of the control and administration of our infrastructure and make a decisive contribution to the continuous optimization of our services. Your responsibilities include, among other things, the administration of traditional VMs, the management of Kubernetes clusters and deployments, as well as Docker Compose deployments and CI/CD pipelines.

• Network Security: You will oversee the setup and maintenance of firewalls, policies, and security guidelines.

• Database & Server Operations: You will be responsible for the planning, management, and optimization of our databases, as well as the administration of Linux and Windows servers. Your focus will be on both the efficiency and scalability of the systems to ensure they can accommodate future applications.

• Monitoring & Logging: You will expand our monitoring capabilities using tools such as Elastic and enhance logging to ensure the analysis and stabilization of the operating environment.
  
  

• Coordination: You will coordinate your tasks within the team by implementing technical requirements in clear and structured sprint phases while keeping project goals in mind.

• Project Management: You independently drive your projects forward within our internal tech roadmap.

• Documentation: You independently create and maintain our development and infrastructure documentation and ensure that knowledge is preserved long-term and remains accessible at all times.

• Infrastructure as Code: You design future-proof requirements for our infrastructure and provide automated setup and maintenance of cloud and on-premise environments.

• Extensive experience: You have a degree in computer science or comparable training and bring at least five years of experience in backend development in the PHP environment.

• DevOps expertise: You bring DevOps know-how to the table and possess expert knowledge in CI/CD pipelines, network & security, monitoring/logging (Elastic Stack), containerization, Linux & Windows VM management, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code.

• Development expertise: You have extensive experience with PHP (versions 7.3 to 8.4), PHP frameworks (Symfony, Laravel, Slim, etc.), database administration with MySQL, SOAP web services, and JSON APIs.

• Teamwork: You have experience working and communicating within development teams (Git/GitLab, Jira, Confluence; SCRUM experience is a plus) as well as in third-level support.

• Analytical skills: You are a quick learner and can quickly familiarize yourself with new topics. The ability to work independently within an experienced team rounds out your profile.
