Health System Services (HSS) was founded in 1990 and is one of the leading technology providers and service providers in the German healthcare market. Our core areas of focus include authorization and billing management, software development and deployment, as well as digitization and archiving services for health insurance companies.
We’re looking for you to join our Dortmund division, which has approximately 170 employees. For our clients in the healthcare sector, we develop software to digitize business processes—from architecture through implementation. We rely on standard technologies but also keep an eye on new developments.
With us, you’ll work in the dynamic environment of an IT company using the latest technologies and IT systems.
Your Responsibilities
As part of a team, you’ll work with the Product Owner and your colleagues on the development team to take our software solutions to the next level
Together with your colleagues, you’ll design and develop software solutions and processes using .NET and Java, leveraging the appropriate frameworks and technologies. These may include complex backend—and, where applicable, frontend—components in .NET, as well as web applications, web services, or automation solutions to support our business processes or meet customer requirements
You will analyze existing software solutions, further develop them in a sustainable manner, and improve maintainability, stability, and performance
You will take responsibility for the technical design and further development of our software architecture and contribute to technology and design decisions
You will support your colleagues in quality assurance by applying the principles of test-driven development
You will contribute your own ideas for optimizing our processes
Your Profile
A successfully completed degree in (Business) Computer Science or a comparable IT education
You have at least 5 years of professional experience in software development
You are familiar with common .NET / .NET Core / .NET Framework technologies and have a solid understanding of CLR and garbage collection
Optional: Familiarity with Java and web frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JPA, XML/XSLT, REST, TypeScript, and JavaScript
You have a basic understanding of databases and SQL; you are familiar with the use of build and CI processes and version control tools, and you are also familiar with test automation methods and working with container technologies
You have a solid understanding of object-oriented software development, clean code principles, and common design patterns
You have experience developing and using web APIs and interfaces (e.g., REST, SOAP)
You have an agile mindset and enjoy trying out new technologies and expanding your horizons.
Very good and fluent German skills (B2 to C1) are required; good English skills are a plus
