Our client is a US-based organization specializing in non-emergency medical transportation coordination, ensuring patients have reliable, timely access to healthcare services. Their team works closely with insurance providers and transportation networks to secure appropriate, in-network transport solutions while maintaining a strong focus on patient care and service delivery.
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Scheduling Coordinator to support the authorization and verification of patient transport services. This role goes beyond basic dispatching — it requires strong critical thinking, ownership, and the ability to navigate complex booking scenarios to ensure every possible avenue is explored to successfully secure transport.
PLEASE NOTE:
Working Hours: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST (3:00 PM – 12:00 AM South African time – subject to daylight savings).
Public Holidays: This role requires working on both South African and U.S. public holidays (compensation for SA public holidays in accordance with the BCEA).
Internet Requirements: A fixed fibre line with a minimum speed of 25 Mbps (upload & download) and wired Ethernet capability is mandatory. Applicants without a fixed fibre line cannot be considered.
Power Backup: Reliable backup required to manage load shedding or outages. Applicants without a power backup cannot be considered.
Work Environment: Fully remote.
Key Responsibilities:
Verify patient insurance coverage for transportation services
Coordinate with in-network transportation providers to arrange patient rides
Manage complex booking scenarios requiring problem-solving and alternative solutions
Ensure all possible options are exhausted to secure transport for patients
Communicate effectively with medical insurance providers, patients, and internal teams
Maintain accurate records of bookings, verifications, and communications
Take ownership of cases from initiation through to successful resolution Requirements
Minimum 2+ years of experience in insurance verification and authorization, EMS operations, dispatch coordination, or medical transportation
Strong understanding of US healthcare or insurance-related workflows and healthcare transportation
Exceptional English communication skills
Proven ability to think critically and resolve complex coordination challenges
Strong organizational and time management skills
Client-service mindset with a proactive, solutions-driven approach
