Hunger Free America is a national anti-hunger advocacy and direct service organization founded in 1983 (originally as the New York City Coalition Against Hunger) that operates across all 50 states from its New York City headquarters. The organization works to build a nonpartisan, grassroots movement to enact public policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food. HFA combines direct service delivery with advocacy efforts to address both the immediate needs of vulnerable individuals and families experiencing hunger as well as the systemic economic and policy changes necessary to eliminate hunger entirely. The Nation has recognized HFA as one of the leading direct service and advocacy organizations on hunger and poverty in the nation.
