Sakshi is a rights-based, capacity-building organization founded in 1992 that pioneers work on gender equality and responsible sexuality in India. The organization was instrumental in two landmark Public Interest Litigations—'Vishaka Vs. State of Rajasthan' and 'Sakshi Vs. Union of India'—that led to the enactment of several gender-based laws including POCSO 2012 and POSH 2013. Sakshi empowers youth, women, children, and marginalized groups through life skills development, training workshops, and social arts for change, focusing on dialogue, negotiation, conflict resolution, and transformational leadership. The organization works across multiple programmatic areas to advance equality and transformative justice in India.
