Job Description

Spectarium’s art team are on the lookout for a character artist who is passionate about bringing mythological fantasy heroes and villains to life through their 3D artistry.

Our ideal candidate has a solid understanding of anatomy, form, silhouette, and proportion and can nail stylised modelling and hand painted textures for everything from compelling human characters to fantastical creatures, costumes and a wide range of gear and weapons.

Collaborating closely with our creative lead and senior artists, you'll be tasked with transforming concept art, crafted by our talented concept team, into detailed 3D game-ready textured models. Your role will involve ensuring that these assets adhere to both technical specifications, stylistic guidelines and fit within our mythological fantasy world. Responsibilities:

  • Create 3d assets for characters, creatures, weapons and armour sets that align with the overall artistic vision of the game.
  • Collaborate with our art director and creative lead to develop and refine your work based on feedback and direction.
  • Maintain consistency in artistic style and adhere to established design and technical animation guidelines throughout the development process.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, techniques, and tools to continuously improve your skills and contribute fresh ideas.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with your team members and lead to ensure a smooth workflow.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working with dev teams, or one or more shipped titles from conception to completion.
  • Demonstrable ability to work on hand painted textures.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Blender, Max, Substance Painter).
  • Experience working within Unity and implementing 3D work into engine.
  • A great understanding of rigging, skinning, and animation principles.
  • Solid foundation in 3D and clean UV layout.
  • Ability to take constructive feedback and iterate on designs accordingly.
  • A strong passion for fantasy games and the gaming world.
