We are looking for an Accounting Manager to take full ownership of the accounting function at a Dallas-based commercial insurance brokerage serving a diverse portfolio of clients. You will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and support business decision-making across a team of 20 to 25 professionals.
This is a hands-on role. You need to be comfortable owning accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting while also bringing the flexibility to support operational and administrative needs as the business evolves. If you have strong accounting fundamentals, insurance or financial services experience, and the ability to work independently without constant direction, this role is a strong fit.

What You'll Work On
Accounting and Financial Operations
Oversee all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and monthly reconciliations
Maintain accurate books and ensure the integrity of all financial records in accordance with US GAAP principles
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and analyses for management review
Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting to support business planning and growth initiatives
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies
Identify issues, discrepancies, and inefficiencies in existing accounting workflows and resolve them proactively
Systems and Tools
Utilize Applied Epic accounting software for all relevant accounting functions
Maintain clean, organized financial records and documentation across all systems
Support the transition of appropriate accounting work into a centralized internal function
Operational and Administrative Support
Provide support for non-accounting tasks as required including administrative duties, project assistance, and operational support
Respond to ad hoc requests from leadership with professionalism and accuracy
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners including banking contacts and outside advisors
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience
Insurance brokerage, commercial insurance, or financial services experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting principles and practices
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
Comfortable learning and operating Applied Epic or similar agency management and accounting systems
Clear written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to work US Central Time business hours
High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and the ability to work independently
Adaptable, proactive, and solutions-oriented with the flexibility to take on varied tasks as business needs evolve
Nice to Have
CPA or equivalent accounting credential
Applied Epic experience
Experience with insurance commissions, carrier payables and receivables, agency billing, or trust account reconciliation
Prior Controller or Accounting Manager title in a small or mid-sized company
Experience coordinating with outside accounting firms or professional service partners
Experience working remotely for a US-based company
