THE JOB: Analyst, ISAR and EDI (12 Month Contract)

The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.

Starting Salary Range: $62,703 - $78,380

Reporting to the Director, ISAR and EDI, the Analyst, Indigenous Specific Anti-Racism (ISAR) and Equity Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) supports the activities of the ISAR and EDI portfolio. This role plays a key function in leading the analysis, interpretation, and advancing reporting of initiatives, policies, and practices aimed at addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, promoting cultural safety, and advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within Doctors of BC operations and throughout member engagement.

The Analyst, ISAR and EDI is responsible for developing, utilizing, and analyzing data and providing guidance on the effective analysis and presentation of results to diverse audiences including the JCCs, JCC co-chairs, EQI leadership, PSC, and the Doctors of BC Board. This role provides a range of analytical functions and support to meet accountability requirements as outlined by the Physician Services Committee, the Doctors of BC Board, and the Physician Master Agreement.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Analytical Thinking (A):

  • Establishes clear goals and priorities and determines criteria for assessing issues and opportunities.
  • Systemically analyzes relationships between different information sources and apparently independent problems and issues.
  • Proactively resolves highly complex, undefined issues and anticipates trends and outcomes that are not readily apparent on the surface.
  • Translates analytical reports into management presentations, and provides guidance to resolve issues.
  • Identifies areas of significant concern or opportunity and initiates research to identify critical problems.

Building Relationships (A):

  • Maintains effective communication and collaborates significantly with peers organization-wide
  • Shares ideas, issues, and opportunities with members of personal network and maintains relationships with relevant professional groups and organizations.
  • Sets objectives necessary for obtaining feedback and assistance.

Problem Solving (A):

  • Diagnoses problems using formal problem-solving tools and techniques from multiple angles and probes underlying issues to generate multiple potential solutions.
  • Proactively anticipates and prevents problems.
  • Devises, facilitates buy-in, makes recommendations, and guides implementation of corrective and/or preventive actions for complex issues that cross organizational boundaries and are unclear in nature.
  • Identifies potential consequences and risk levels. Seeks support and buy-in for problem definition, methods of resolution, and accountability.

Thoroughness (A):

  • Identifies potential areas of conflicting priorities and vulnerability in achieving standards.
  • Reviews department’s progress against established goals, objectives, service level targets, and project
  • Supports others in achieving deliverables by efficiently allocating resources and providing common organizing systems, techniques, and disciplines.
  • Maintains a proactive work review and approval process prior to assignment completion.
  • Solicits internal and external customer evaluation of performance and devises measures for improvement.

Communication For Results (A):

  • Converses with, writes reports for, and creates/delivers presentations to all levels of colleagues and peer groups in ways that support problem-solving, planning and consensus with business partners.
  • Debates opinions, tests understanding, and clarifies judgments. Brings conflict into the open empathetically.
  • Explains the context of multiple interrelated situations, asks searching and probing questions, and solicits expert advice prior to taking action and making recommendations.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Undergraduate university degree in a recognized and related discipline, AND up to two years of related experience; OR have an equivalent level of related work experience in lieu of post-secondary education
  • Strong ability to translate technical information to various audiences
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to apply problem solving skills with a high degree of tact and diplomacy
  • Expertise in data collection & analysis for the purposes of project evaluation and/or framework development.
  • Experience working in the BC health care system or general knowledge of the BC health care system is preferred.
  • Superior interpersonal, oral and written communication and relationship management skills with exceptional attention to detail and organizational expertise
  • Ability to synthesize and critically appraise feedback from multiple sources.
  • Interest and experience in process improvement
  • Project management experience, including implementing timelines, estimating and monitoring budgets, and identifying risks
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of the team
  • Understanding of change management methodologies an asset
  • Previous success working in dynamic, challenging and ambiguous environments, an asset
  • Excellent skills in critical thinking and analysis, meeting facilitation, verbal and written communications, and interpersonal interactions
  • Excellent writing skills and proven ability to develop clear, concise and comprehensive written reports and other documents
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally as required and work outside regular business hours on occasion
