We are seeking a dedicated and results-drivenAssistant Vice President of Collections to join our dynamic team. In this strategic role, you will be instrumental in leading our collections department, optimizing processes, and ensuring the highest standards of financial recovery. Your expertise will contribute to the financial stability and success of our organization by effectively managing our collection efforts and maintaining strong relationships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Must effectively carry out the essential duties and responsibilities of this position in a manner that consistently demonstrates Austin Telco’s mission and culture in a positive manner. Other duties may be assigned, including, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides operational management of the department by analyzing, developing, and implementing policies, programs and procedures as necessary. Conduct evaluations and recommendations on the short- and long-term impact of current and new programs, strategies, and regulatory action.
  • Manage the policies, procedures, and processes that exist across the entirety of the collections lifecycle.
  • Work with staff at all levels to develop goals and strategies to meet objectives set by Senior Management and obtain agreement on those goals and strategies.
  • Develop and implement programs, policies, and procedures to ensure that the mission and core values of the credit union are put into practice in all areas of responsibility.
  • Monitor, create and modify policies and procedures to improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the department while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Motivate and lead the team to support the credit union’s goals and objectives.
  • Manage third party & vendor-related activities for the functional area.
  • Develop the budget and business plans for the department in conjunction with other functional areas of the loan department.
  • Utilize and evaluate new and existing technology and service providers to enhance business and user requirements.
  • Ensure that related programs, policies, and procedures conform to federal and state regulations, standards, and guidelines.
  • Remain current with industry best practices and recommendations improve efficiency and efficacy. Keeps informed of new ideas and developments through publications, membership in professional organizations and contact with other employers.
  • Acts as liaison with attorneys and vendors representing the credit union in collections related matters, preparing for and representing the credit union at court hearings and in legal proceedings as necessary.
  • Implement sufficient training, automation, and resiliency to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Responsible for maintaining departmental compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and requirements.

MUST HAVES:
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or related field (or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions) is required.
  • Five years of progressively responsible work experience in all levels of collections, preferably in a financial institution required.
  • 5 years’ experience in a leadership role managing a team.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills required.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve goals is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees in the collections department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the credit union's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Good credit standing is also required and will be verified during pre-employment stage. Once a contingent job offer is made, a criminal background check and drug screening will be completed.
