We are hiring for this position immediately. This position is full-time, with a minimum salary of $98,700 annually, commensurate with experience. To uphold organizational parity and pay equity, we use a non-negotiable salary system that takes into consideration the entire breadth of a candidate’s experience, employment, and education to arrive at their final starting base salary. Responsibilities
- Support the Compliance Manager in developing and managing data systems, compliance procedures and internal processes/practices relating to campaign finance reporting and entity time tracking. Serve as primary backup for reporting and time tracking responsibilities. (15%)
- Develop and update effective legal risk and compliance education and program specific training tools for Indivisible employees relating to election and tax law compliance and internal policies and procedures. Drive and coordinate the development of training materials and lead training sessions. (15%)
- In coordination with the general counsel, take the lead on providing programmatic guidance across the organization. Issue spot, investigate and evaluate legal implications of compliance issues. Communicate understandable and explanatory responses directly to stakeholders. (20%)
- Monitor all changing areas of tax and election law as they relate to Indivisible entities and legal compliance. Conduct independent and complex legal research and write memoranda. (10%)
- Assist with research and provide recommendations relating to employment law matters and labor management issues. (10%)
- Consult with senior organizational leadership (including the executive team and national program directors) to provide legal guidance and risk analysis for innovative programmatic priorities involving campaign finance, lobbying, and election activity. (10%)
- Review, draft and provide guidance on contracts, leases, grant agreements, and other legal documentation. Review and advise on legally sensitive communications, as well as talking points and other materials. (10%)
- Other duties as assigned. (10%)
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with a strong academic background. Membership in good standing of any state bar association.
- Minimum 3 years’ of relevant legal experience, preferably in tax-exempt governance, lobbying and election law activity.

- Holds self and others accountable for high-quality, timely, and effective results.
- Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, balancing the needs of the organization while maintaining a strong voice for legal compliance.
- Highest standards of ethics and integrity. Exercises excellent judgment in handling confidential information and other potentially-sensitive matters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to understand and accurately communicate complex legal concepts into understandable concepts for stakeholders in different fields of expertise.
- Maintains high-level and consistent work ethic, with an ability to prioritize, track and manage competing tasks.
- Experience with Google Office suite of products.
- Able to work occasional irregular and long hours.
