Job Summary

The AVP, Cloud Infrastructure and Delivery is a strategic leadership role accountable for the implementation and management of our Cloud platform and delivery. This role is responsible for the strategies and operational plans to ensure the availability, scalability, performance, compliance, and security of our Cloud platforms. The incumbent will work closely with cross-functional teams, including architecture, engineering, solution delivery, support and operations, and security, to drive innovation and efficiency in our Cloud operations. Additionally, this role is responsible for release management, quality assurance, IT automation, and site reliability engineering (practices and processes to create highly reliable and scalable solutions).

This position will report to the VP, IT Operations and will have regular interaction with key stakeholders, internal customers, team members, IT leadership and executive management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for internal and external technical teams supporting Microsoft Azure platforms and associated capabilities, DevSecOps pipelines, quality assurance and IT automation
    • Responsible for workforce planning within area of responsibility, working with leaders to review future staffing needs, propose staffing model changes, and ensure plans are developed/budgeted to address skill risks/gaps
    • Responsible for working with leaders in area of responsibility to understand engagement, develop plans for improvement/maintenance and to develop/drive team goals
    • Accountable for the maintenance, support, scalability, and performance of platforms, applications, and systems associated with Cloud platforms and Delivery
    • Accountable for the escalation for all technology issues related to Cloud Infrastructure and Delivery functions
    • Understand industry trends, tools and practices and partner with business unit peers and architecture to assess technical capabilities needed to support company strategies and develop capability roadmaps
    • Engage with peers and stakeholders to understand Cloud Infrastructure and Delivery needs, identify future initiatives, and develop business case/cost benefit analysis
    • Accountable for developing roadmaps in partnership with Chief of Staff and Architecture
    • Ensure technology initiatives align with enterprise strategy, manage risk and compliance to minimize exposure, and align with disaster recovery guidelines
    • Act as IT Sponsor on key projects within area of responsibility and participate in steering committees
    • Oversee Cloud Infrastructure and Delivery efforts and project teams, provide input to capability planning, ensure solutions adhere to quality assurance, security and compliance standards while meeting business outcomes
    • Ensure efforts are delivered on time and within budget
    • Accountable for vendor relationships for Cloud Infrastructure and Delivery functions (i.e. implementation partners, managed services, and other strategic partners) to ensure contract terms, SLAs and performance agreements are met and changes/enhancements are managed appropriately
    • Participate in the development of RFPs and review proposal, negotiate contracts with SLAs, performance agreements and incentives/penalties
    • Participate in the design and assurance of SOX ITGC controls

Experience and Education Requirements
• B.S. or B.A. required, advanced degree preferred
• 10+ years of Information Technology leadership in Cloud Infrastructure and Delivery
• 4+ years of experience managing cross-functional cloud teams
• Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams in a cloud delivery model
• Experience designing, developing, implementing, and monitoring adherence to policy, process, procedures, and standards
• Experience managing outsource vendors and internal staff
• Extensive experience working in an effective SOX/internal control environment
• Business Process Re-Engineering, Six Sigma or Lean a plus
• Experience with ITIL or comparable framework and processes
• Insurance industry experience is preferred
• Participated in IT strategic planning and architectural design

    • Strong/current technical proficiency with applications architecture, frameworks, and enterprise solutions delivery
    • Significant expertise in testing principles, disciplines, tools, and environments
    • Strong networking and relationship-building across the organization, with service providers and partners
    • Current knowledge of solution and information security, compliance, and disaster recovery principles
    • Business/commercially focused and results oriented
    • Strong fiscal focus including budgets, ROI, and Cost Benefit Analysis
    • Strong/current technical proficiency with Cloud Infrastructure and Delivery systems and processes
    • Strong/current experience leading technical implementations
    • Consultative and client-oriented, a creative problem solver with a collaborative nature
    • Executive leadership with ability to influence/negotiate with peers and vendors
    • Professional, decisive with integrity and high ethical standards
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation, facilitation, influencing, and consensus building skills
    • High degree of flexibility and ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization with diverse backgrounds
    • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly
    • Must possess strong analytical, strategic, project management, decision-making and problem-solving skills
