    Officer position responsible for providing overall underwriting excellence through strategic leadership and management of the Cyber and Tech E&O product lines. This role ensures effective management and implementation of strategic objectives and policies in alignment with the company’s broader goals.

    This leadership role is responsible for driving the continued expansion and profitable growth of our Cyber and Technology E&O products. Key responsibilities include refining underwriting best practices, optimizing portfolio performance through operational excellence and technology, and continuously enhancing our Cyber and Technology E&O product offerings.JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

    1. Implements strategic objectives, underwriting strategies and best practices with substantial impact on the short-term success of a product line.

    2. Ensures the achievement of continued profitability, growth and/or operational efficiencies for a product line through assessment of risk tolerance, policy wordings, market appetite and emerging risk issues.

    3. Evaluates underwriting performance based on financial analysis. Includes rate, reserve adequacy, operational, planning and product reviews. Provides results to members of the underwriting management team and develops plans to resolve issues.

    4. Collaborates with IT and Operations to improve underwriting systems and rating tools. Assists in development and implementation of digital underwriting technology.

    5. Drives adherence to underwriting authority delegation, audit criteria and catastrophe management for a product line.

    6. Collaborates with business partners in Risk Control, Actuarial, Claim, Legal, Worldwide Operations and Compliance to address governance and compliance issues related to underwriting practices. Works with Legal Counsel on development of policy language.

    7. Provides guidance and direction in the development of underwriting and training tools, and conducts underwriter training.

    8. May lead, direct and have full management accountability for staff in area of responsibility with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with strategic direction.

    9. May take lead responsibility for the development of underwriting strategies and position papers for emerging issues when assigned.

    10. May maintain relationships with branches, brokers, agents and customers to assess risk tolerance, market appetite and emerging issues.

    May perform additional duties as assigned.

    Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

    1. In-depth technical knowledge of underwriting theories and practices within the insurance field.
    2. Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of external and/or internal business partners within scope of responsibility, team and/or matrix environment.
    3. Leadership and management skills, demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
    4. Ability to drive results by identifying, and resolving problems within scope of responsibility.
    5. Knowledge of the insurance industry, its products and services.
    6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.

    Education & Experience

    1. Bachelor’s degree with Master’s preferred in a related discipline, or equivalent.
    2. Typically a minimum of 10 years of related work experience, with five years management experience.

    In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia,California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois,Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is$152,000 to $242,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
