What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
Job Description
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Developing and deploying solutions with hands-on software development.
- You will be working closely with tech leads to enable marketing and transactional messaging with reliable and compliant integrations.
- Working collaboratively with engineers to deliver back-end work that helps your team achieve crazy-big-goals.
You're probably a match if
- Experience developing API integrations with third-party systems.
- Most of our code is in Java, so you will be comfortable using Java.
- Computer science and engineering fundamentals including concurrency, multithreading, data structures and design patterns.
- Good writing and verbal communication skills.

We’re seeking a Backend Engineer to join the message surfaces team within Marketing Technology. Our team plays a key role in marketing and transactional messaging with our mission to engage with our customers with the right message at the right time.
