Since 2002, the Disability Management Institute has been providing comprehensive claims management and claims review services to clients throughout Canada. 

YOUR ROLE

As a Part-Time Bilingual TSA Assessor/Vocational Consultant you will be responsible for providing a high caliber of varied vocational rehabilitation services to a broad customer and client base within both the Insurance and Employer marketplace. You will be responsible for providing vocational assessment and job search training and monitoring programs for our adult client base.  This will include assisting clients with resumes, interview skills, and sourcing employment opportunities.   Experience completing TSAs (transferrable skills analysis) and providing vocational counselling is required.  Experience conducting vocational evaluations/testing and/or psychometric testing experience is an asset. Please note this is a self-employed part-time contracted opportunity.

YOUR IMPACT

You will have previous experience and knowledge in disability management best practices and have experience working within the scope of injury, recovery, disability and rehabilitation.  Additionally, the candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with an ability to compile and generate detailed, accurate and comprehensive reports. Demonstration of strong ethical standards, practices and professional integrity is essential.  Further requirements include the ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic and fast paced environment demonstrating superior oral and written communication skills, solid organizational skills, technology proficiencies and the ability to coordinate with several vocational programs simultaneously.

This will include the following:

  • You will serve as an expert vocational rehabilitation resource to interview, review and evaluate health event factors to determine degrees of ability and employability.
  • You will provide an assessment of the client’s vocational potential for the determination of suitable vocational goal setting in keeping with insurer policy provisions.
  • You will utilize external and internal resources, as necessary, to progress files forward to resolution, with a focus on function and gainful employment.
  • You will manage external referrals, services and relationships with service providers and strategic partners through research and knowledge of local community resources.
  • You will have a comprehensive knowledge of the world of work including expertise in job matching with the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system. 
  • You will understand the labour market, job descriptions, and job demands in relation to functional abilities.
  • You will provide timely in-depth documentation and report writing to ensure progression and fulfillment of rehabilitation goals.

THIS IS YOU

  • You have 3-5 years' experience with Injury, recovery, disability and rehabilitation.
  • You have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • You can apply your strong assessment and communication skills to ensure a customized approach, effective interviewing, and sound vocational recommendations.
  • You can compile and generate detailed, accurate and comprehensive reports.
  • You can demonstrate strong ethical standards, practices and professional integrity is essential.
  • You have the ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic and fast paced environment demonstrating superior oral and written communication skills, solid organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate with several vocational programs simultaneously.
  • You have solid IT technical skills to manage multiple online platforms, communication software, Microsoft Office software and Internet and email communications. 

THIS IS NICE

  • You have relevant post-secondary degree in Psychology, Sociology, Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation, or related degree (with associated designation) is required. 
  • Master’s Degree preferred. 
  • You have a good standing with an associated regulatory body and/or a member of the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada (VRAC).
  • CVRP, CCVE, ICVE or CVRP TSA designation or immediate eligibility and willingness to complete the designation is required.
