WHAT YOU’LL DO:
We are looking for an experienced Business Development Leader to help grow Cicero —the sole purpose of this position is to find and close new business. This role will work closely with Cicero’s senior leadership team within the Corporate Management Consulting business unit and involves identifying new client opportunities, articulating the value that Cicero can provide to potential new clients, enhancing the firm’s reputation, developing and implementing strategies to increase revenue, and selling Cicero products and services. Cicero’s Corporate Management practice focuses on strategy, private equity services, customer insights and analytics, measurement and evaluation advisory, transformation, and operational excellence.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for
New Business Development
- Find and build relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry leaders in targeted businesses
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and other networking opportunities
- Collaborate with project leaders to develop proposals, contracts, and presentations for prospective clients
- Assist in marketing and public relations initiatives to increase visibility and build Cicero’s brand
- Optimize Cicero’s CRM system (HubSpot) by keeping track of outreach, updating contacts, and ensuring all contacts are mapped correctly
Customer Acquisition
- Work with Cicero’s leadership to develop and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to win new business and grow existing accounts
- Attend introductory meetings and project kick-offs to understand key client needs
- Develop and nurture the entire sales funnel from lead development to closing
- Identify opportunities and lead sales pitches to convert new business opportunities into revenue
- Maintain relationships with clients and collaborate with Cicero teams to identify additional opportunities
Strategic Planning and Sales Management
- Track and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry best practices to inform business development strategies
- Develop and implement a business development strategy that aligns with Cicero’s purpose and goals
- Prepare and deliver regular reports on sales and business development activities
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the business development initiatives and make adjustments as necessary to achieve the desired results
This role will work closely with the Partners and Principals and will report directly to the Chief Finance Officer.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of successful business development, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of the consulting industry.
- Six (6) or more years in management/strategy consulting or other professional services similar to a consulting role
- Five (5) or more years of demonstrated success in a senior business development/sales role
- An advanced graduate degree in business, marketing, finance, or a related field
- Excellent strategic thinking skills, with the ability to analyze data, and develop and execute effective business strategies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively negotiate and present ideas
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a multitude of stakeholders
- The ability to adapt to changing market conditions and adjust business development strategies accordingly
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate data, identify trends, and make informed decisions
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to find creative solutions to complex business challenges
- A deep understanding of how to execute a variety of corporate management projects such as strategic due diligence, strategic development, market research and assessment, change management, private equity services, operations performance management, and M&A advisory
- Ability to travel 3-4 days per week
