Applications are now open to be part of a Business Involvement Group at Barr Soft Drinks - at present, this is only open to Manufacturing / Warehouse colleagues in Milton Keynes, Cumbernauld and Forfar. Application is by self nomination only.
What is a Business Involvement Group?
A Business Involvement Group is a forum made up of a representative group of colleagues who can share views, support two-way communication and support consistent connectivity between business leaders and colleagues.
Objectives:
- Enhancing Engagement: to increase the involvement and engagement of colleagues by providing a platform for employees to voice their opinions, concerns, and suggestions. Gathering Diverse Perspectives: to gather diverse perspectives, insights, and expertise. which are informed by a wide range of viewpoints.
- Promoting Collaboration and Alignment: to promote collaboration, coordination, and alignment among different stakeholders. It fosters cross-functional communication and cooperation, breaking down silos and ensuring a shared understanding of organisational goals and priorities.
- Enhancing Organisational Culture: contributes to shaping and enhancing the organisation's culture by fostering a sense of ownership, empowerment, and accountability among stakeholders. It promotes a culture of transparency, open communication, and continuous improvement.
How it will work:
- Each area will have a Business Involvement group, made up of a cross section of colleagues to give good representation of shifts/teams. Each representative is on the group for an initial 12 month minimum term (max. 24 months), chair 12 months.
- Representation will be by self nomination.
- Each group will have a Business Sponsor and an HR sponsor. This allows two way communication from the business led by the sponsors and from colleagues led by the representatives.
- The group elects a chair who coordinates activity and site meetings. The Chair will be nominated by the group at the first meeting.
- The group will nominate a note taker for every meeting.
- Frequency of meetings - monthly suggested initially
- The chair must have a clear agenda for the meeting. The Business sponsor will contribute local site and wider business updates in time for the meeting.
- After every meeting, an update and note of the actions is shared with the Business Sponsor for the site and colleagues across the teams represented. Key themes are shared in the monthly Supply Chain (SCLT)/Commercial updates for Exco visibility.
- It will be the responsibility of the Chair and note taker to take ownership of the meeting notes and agenda.
- If the chair is unable to make a meeting for any reason a deputy chair must be appointed.
- There is planned development for all the representatives to include: Coaching, Influencing, Leading effective meetings through Leadership Factory.
- Any particular issues or hot topics that can’t be resolved locally are escalated to a more senior business leader / HR representative.
Roles & Responsibilities of Business Involvement Group representatives:
- Availability and commitment to attend monthly meetings.
- This role will be additional to your duties, time will be given to allow you to speak to colleagues and attend the meetings.
- Proactively seek views and feedback from employees in their area of the business.
- Encouraged to bring questions, ideas and concerns to the meeting.
- Present and report to the meeting on relevant feedback from their area of the business.
