EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW 

This Capital Reporting Accountant (12 month fixed-term contract) is a key part of the wider Capital Accounting team as it provides valuable reporting, modelling insight and adhoc support to our Capital Accounting Manager. Your contributions make this a high-profile role as you will be supporting business and regulatory decision making. Your stakeholder management skills will be to the fore as you’ll be developing relationships across all our finance teams whilst supporting them on all Capital Accounting matters, such as forecasting, budgeting, our highly important Price reviews and improving the Capital Accounting processes.

We’ll want you to be inquisitive as you’re look for you to get under the bonnet of what we do and deliver continuous improvement in our Capital Accounting processes as well as project support where required.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and deploying financial modelling activity for the Capital accounting team including the delivery of forecasts, budgets and the Business Plan for the depreciation costs (including close liaison with other teams such as Financial Performance, Group Finance and Strategy & Regulation).
  • Performing detailed variance analysis of monthly reporting against the budget and working with the wider team to understand the drivers behind the variances.
  • Preparing the capital reporting for the Annual Performance Report on an annual basis working with the regulatory reporting team and liaising with the external auditors.
  • Supporting the tax team and wider capital and commercial team to gather and prepare the data required for capital allowance claims annually.
  • Deputise for Capital Accounting Manager at Senior Team and Stakeholder meetings.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

To be considered for this role, you’ll need:

  • Financial qualification in ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
  • Demonstrable track record in financial accounting and developing and delivering modelling and reporting improvements in a large organisation.
  • Strong financial accounting skills (with good working knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS) driving change in a complex and regulated environment.
  • Strong track record of taking the lead in diagnosing business issues and delivering a step change in performance.
