This job description is for a position at Asset Impact (AI), an impact-driven climate start-up that has been part of GRESB since 2022.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Climate Data Analyst Intern to join our team in in Berlin at the beginning of Q2 2024. If you’re someone who is passionate about sustainable finance, embraces a start-up mentality, and is excited to take on new challenges, we’d love to hear from you. Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Asset Impact Data Team, with frequent interactions with the Product and Business teams**.** You will make direct contributions to the development of our data and analytics. Depending on your profile and interests, you will:

  • Research commercial and open-source physical asset data providers and data sources to help improve the coverage and quality of Asset Impact’s climate data.
  • Conduct quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) checks of our data and climate indicators.
  • Support the onboarding of raw data into Asset Impact’s proprietary database.
  • Support the development of new products, metrics and methodologies in collaboration with the Asset Impact Product Team (e.g. financed emissions, scenario analysis).
  • Analyze corporate, climate and financial data and prepare responses to clients’ queries on Asset Impact’s data products.
  • Support the Data Team in any part of the Asset Impact data workflow.

Requirements

  • Right to work in Germany. The internship is not fully remote, you will be required to to work on-site with our team in Berlin. We are looking for working students (“Werkstudierendenstatus”).
  • Experience summarizing technical information into concise texts for a general audience.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and sustainable finance.
  • Cleaning and analyzing data with code, and proficiency with R, or Python for data analysis and manipulation. Proficiency with SQL (or knowledge of relational databases) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Fluency in English.

  • Interest in learning about climate-critical sectors such as power generation, oil and gas extraction, transport, etc.
