Overall Summary

Leads field launch efforts for SkyWalker Robotic System. Provides input to enhance and refine processes. Provides clinical sales support to all end users and provides on-site guidance and assistance during surgical procedures. Drives continuous expansion of the user base by working with key hospital staff, thought leaders, referring doctors, and Distributors in territory to develop a referral base and increase procedural/implant volume. Obtains re-orders for products consumed during surgical procedures. Provides training, in-services, and customer education to assigned account(s). Provides feedback on product design to improve performance and customer satisfaction. Partners with Regional Distributors and Account Executives in selling the clinical benefits of the company’s products. Manage the team of field Robotic Clinical Specialist positions.

This position works closely with clinical directors’ sales team and marketing team partners to develop in-field strategies.

Your duties will include:

Leadership Responsibilities

  1. Cover cases utilizing technology to include navigation, robotics or other related technologies in the medical device space.
  2. Ability to take the lead at cadaver labs, including surgeon training and participating in engineering development as necessary to complete validation processes
  3. Assist with the creation of training protocols for surgeons, internal staff and sales personnel
  4. Work with sales leadership to identify targets and participate in the conversion process
  5. Participates and provides input into the product development processes cross-functionally between business units
  6. Acts as lead in account launches, partnering with distributors and the NaviBot technical support team to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  7. Partners with Joint Replacement Rep/Distributor as the “clinical expert” during initial cases to ensure optimal workflow and successful use of technology during the procedure.
  8. Takes active lead at roadshows and sales demonstrations.
  9. Actively engages with product validation activities as directed by management.
  10. May manage field-based personnel.

Clinical Support

  1. Uses proprietary software to pre-plan and review customized patient plan for use in conjunction with the company’s robotic arm system, assists surgeon in preoperative implant planning, implant sizing and positioning.
  2. Provides surgeons and operating room staff with support in the operation of the company's robotic arm system and associated equipment and instruments
  3. Provides complete reports and associated metrics to management, direct supervisor and company's regulatory department detailing case reviews, services performed and recommendations for product, documentation and methodology improvements.
  4. Supports company road-show demonstrations and Center of Excellence site visits to provide potential customers with opportunity to see product in use and appreciation of clinical value.
  5. In conjunction with clinical manager and distributors, trains physicians and hospital personnel, including OR staff, radiology and central sterile processing on the use of the system, accessories, disposables and implants.
  6. Provides frequent communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to high customer satisfaction via FDA complaint and / or service report systems.
  7. Provides customer requirements to product manager for new designs and supports associated design & product documentation reviews.
  8. Supports clinical affairs manager on clinical studies to ensure they are executed appropriately and that all data is collected and communicated in a timely manner while respecting all aspects of HIPAA regulations; also supports product evaluation surveys and COE (Center of Excellence) agreements.
  9. Provide case coverage at other accounts as needed.
  10. Ability to learn MPO implant system and successfully pass implant training

Sales Support

  1. Work with the sales and capital leadership team and local sales team in developing a sales plan tailored to the local market.
  2. Work with senior hospital staff and key surgeons in the development and execution of a plan to effectively increase implant/procedural volume at customer sites.
  3. Actively sell the clinical benefits of the products, and build strong, positive relationships with key surgeons and OR staff at targeted accounts.
  4. Drive continuous expansion of the user base by working with key hospital staff, thought leaders and referring doctors in territory to develop a solid call list.
  5. Collaborate with marketing to increase public awareness.
  6. Effectively convert high potential leads and drive training activities.
  7. As they become available, introduce new implant systems and applications to surgeons to grow volume of procedures using the SkyWalker surgical robotic system at the account.
  8. Responsibly manage administrative tasks; reporting of sales/procedures, outcomes of sales activities, submission of expense reports, etc.
  9. Manage team of field based Robotic Clinical Specialists as necessary
  10. Manage overall budget, case coverage schedule, credentialing process and other organization needs of the RTS team.

YOUR EDUCATION

Required: BS / BA Degree or Medical Technology Associate’s Degree or Certificate with 4+ years of applied Medical Technology Experience

Preferred: Business-related BS/BA Degree

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Minimum 3 years Medical Device or Sales Management experience; Orthopedic robotics experience preferred.

  • Proven track record in sales of or clinical excellence in medical device technology, preferably with a surgical device company
  • Preferred working knowledge of surgical robotics in the medical device space
  • Proven track record in business development in orthopedic robotics
  • Preferred experience managing a team of remote field-based employees
  • Preferred experience successfully launching technology and building a robotic program
  • Must be able to function in a fast paced and ambiguous environment
