Key Responsibilities:
Deliver Remote Clinical Neuropsychology Services: Provide expert online neuropsychological consultations, assessments (utilising validated remote methods where appropriate and feasible), and feedback sessions.
Conduct Specialist Assessments: Administer, score, and interpret a range of neuropsychological tests remotely (where validated and appropriate), assessing cognitive domains such as memory, attention, executive function, language, and visuospatial skills. Acknowledge and address the limitations of remote assessment.
Formulation and Reporting: Integrate complex assessment data with clinical information to develop neuropsychological formulations, contribute to differential diagnosis, and write comprehensive, high-quality reports for referrers, clients, and families.
Rehabilitation & Intervention Support: Contribute expert opinion to neuropsychological rehabilitation planning, advise on cognitive strategies, and provide psychoeducation to clients and their support systems regarding cognitive/emotional changes post-brain injury or neurological illness.
Adhere to Highest Standards: Maintain meticulous, confidential records (GDPR compliant) and practice in strict accordance with HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics and BPS Division of Neuropsychology (DoN) professional guidelines.
Direct Client/Referrer Liaison: Manage communications regarding appointments, assessment scope, fees, and report dissemination directly.
Engage in Specialist Supervision: Actively participate in regular clinical supervision with a qualified Clinical Neuropsychologist (ideally SRCN registered).
Essential Requirements:
Foundation Qualification: Doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy or equivalent) or another relevant Practitioner Psychology domain, approved by the HCPC.
Mandatory HCPC Registration: Current, unrestricted registration as a Practitioner Psychologist (typically Clinical domain) with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is essential. Your HCPC number is required.
Specialist Neuropsychology Status: Entry onto the BPS Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN) is highly desirable and may be required for consideration. Alternatively, evidence of having completed the BPS Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN) and being eligible for SRCN registration will be strongly considered.
Clinical Experience: Significant post-qualification experience working as a Clinical Neuropsychologist, including specialist assessment (ideally with some remote experience), formulation, and rehabilitation/intervention across a range of neurological conditions (e.g., TBI, stroke, dementia, epilepsy).
Specialist Supervision: Confirmed arrangement for ongoing clinical supervision with a supervisor experienced in clinical neuropsychology, preferably SRCN registered.
Professional Indemnity Insurance: Must hold adequate insurance covering specialist clinical neuropsychology practice (including remote assessment/consultation) in the UK.
Right to Work: Legal entitlement to work on a self-employed basis in the UK.
Technical Proficiency: High level of competence with secure video conferencing platforms suitable for clinical work, reliable high-speed internet, and appropriate technical setup for potential remote test administration/viewing. A secure, private workspace is mandatory.
Core Skills: Advanced skills in neuropsychological assessment and interpretation, report writing, clinical formulation, communication with clients with cognitive/communication difficulties, ethical practice, and adapting practice to remote settings.
