Job Title: Cloud Engineer (SEIII)
Clearance Required: U.S. Citizen, Public Trust
Work Location: Remote/Silver Spring, MD

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Cloud Engineer. The Cloud Engineering & Web Solutions Architect defines and develops custom modules as well as deploy system tools and features to create/package integration from proposal to product. Document features, modules, requirements, and the risks of each project-based initiative and assist in the design and implementation of system architecture and interface control using requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 4 - 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Cloud based design, definition and development custom modules, features, and package integration from proposal to product.
  • Write efficient code and maintain code quality, organization, documentation, and automatization.
  • Document features, modules, requirements, and the risks of each Cloud based initiative.
  • Develops FEDRAMP-certified architecture solutions and evaluates alternatives for private, public and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services.
  • Work with IT security staff and communications professionals to meet yearly web certifications and implement security updates as required.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging applications
  • Research and recommend cloud architecture that will enhance internal tools, and systems.
  • Provide optimization and best practices utilizing AWS tools.
  • Develop, document and implement cloud solutions to ensure application high availability in both hybrid on-premises cloud and fully cloud hosted applications to provide an always on experience.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for cloud end-to-end architecture, including current and future providers, networking, provisioning, and management.
  • Provide implementation guidance/support to the customer throughout the project life cycle.
  • Operate and maintain EC2 instances, production ECS clusters, and additional AWS services such as RDS, Lambda, S3, EFS, Glue, Athena, and Sagemaker.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or related field

Experience/Skills:

  • Prior Experience with AWS Cloud
  • In-depth working knowledge of FEDRAMP and extensive experience applying best practices for building/deploying secure and reliable services and applications on FEDRAMP-compliant Cloud platforms.
  • Must possess in-depth understanding of networking principles and technologies and cloud security practices.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Architecture patterns and strategies (including IaaS, PaaS, Security, Compute, Storage and networking.
  • Prior experience with web systems such as WordPress in a clustered environment.
  • Experience using coding languages such as Perl, Java, PowerShell, PHP, Ruby, Python, etc.
  • Understanding of load balancing, geo-redundancy, CDN, and VPN technologies.
  • Good understanding of database architecture and query optimization.
  • Ability to evolve technologies.
  • Must possess experience and understanding of government contracting.
  • Strong and effective verbal and communications skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills

Salary and Benefit Information:

The likely salary range for this position is $107,319 - $170,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
