CMDB Manager / Full Time / Permanent / Home based

You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the IT asset and configuration management processes within the organization. This role ensures that IT assets are accurately tracked, maintained, and optimized throughout their lifecycle, and that configuration management processes are adhered to, ensuring the integrity and reliability of IT services.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Define the scope and objectives of the CMDB, which means identifying what CIs to include, what attributes and relationships to capture, what level of detail and accuracy to maintain, and what outcomes and benefits to expect from the CMDB.
- Design and implement the CMDB structure and processes, which involves choosing the appropriate CMDB software and tools, creating the data model and schema, defining the data sources and integration methods, setting up the data quality and security controls, and configuring the CMDB workflows and functions.
- Managing day-to-day activities related to Configuration Management, including task prioritisation and work assignments.
- Establish the policies, standards, and guidelines for the CMDB and communicate them to the relevant stakeholders, such as IT service managers, asset managers, change managers, and service desk staff.
- Track compliance with policies and procedures and address any compliance issues.
- Test and validate the CMDB functionality and performance and ensure its compliance with the best practices and frameworks, such as ITIL and COBIT.
- Facilitating Configuration Management audits.
- Should monitor and audit the CMDB activities and transactions, such as data collection, discovery, reconciliation, verification, and synchronisation, and resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise.
- Should also review and approve any changes or requests that affect the CMDB and its data and keep track of the CMDB history and versions.
Incident Resolution and Change Management:
- Reviewing critical incident outage resolution results and responses related to the CMDB.
- Handling failed changes due to CMDB-related issues.
- Approving significant IT infrastructure changes to ensure proper impact assessment on configuration management data.
Engagement and Communication:
- Engaging with business and IT management to promote configuration management efforts and demonstrate value.
- Collaborating with strategic projects to ensure timely delivery of required CMDB functionality.
- Mentoring the organisation on Configuration Management services, concepts, policies, and procedures.
Configuration Control Board (CCB):
- Chairing the CCB and implementing changes as directed.
Key Requirements:
- Good understanding of ITOM strategic and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of those technologies to new and evolving business and operating models.
- Substantial experience in IT asset and configuration management.
- Strong knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices and ITIL certification.
- Experience with configuration management databases (CMDB) and IT asset management tools with automatic asset discovery and CMDB mapping/population.
- Experience of application service and dependency mapping.
- Knowledge of software licensing and compliance.
- Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms and environments.
Desirable:
- Substantial experience in IT asset and configuration management, within a Service Now Operations Environment.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information-technology, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working within the Healthcare sector (highly desirable).
- Knowledge and awareness of clinical and healthcare systems
- Good understanding Patient Administration Systems, EPR and associated capabilities (highly desirable).
- Experience working with multiple complex business domains including operations, sales, marketing, finance and HR.
- Experience working within a regulated environment
