    About this role

    Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (Remote)

Region: United Kingdom Type of Job: Part time Salary: £40000 GBP/Year Expire: 01 November 2026

    Overview

Address the growing need for high-quality Cognitive Behavioural Therapy across the UK. Mentalzon is actively seeking fully BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapists to join our platform and deliver evidence-based interventions online. If you possess robust CBT skills, are committed to ethical practice, and desire the autonomy and flexibility of managing your own remote caseload, this opportunity is designed for you.

    About Mentalzon:

Mentalzon.com is dedicated to enhancing access to verified mental health support. We provide a secure and efficient online platform where accredited professionals can establish and grow their independent practice, connecting directly with clients seeking specialised therapeutic approaches like CBT.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver High-Standard Remote CBT: Provide effective, evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy sessions via secure video link to adults experiencing common mental health difficulties (e.g., anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, PTSD).

    • Conduct CBT Assessment and Formulation: Undertake comprehensive CBT assessments, develop collaborative formulations rooted in cognitive theory, and devise structured, goal-focused treatment plans.

    • Apply Core CBT Interventions: Skilfully implement a range of CBT techniques tailored to client needs (e.g., Socratic questioning, behavioural experiments, exposure and response prevention, cognitive restructuring).

    • Track Therapeutic Progress: Utilise standardised outcome measures to monitor client progress throughout therapy and adjust interventions as necessary.

    • Uphold Professional Standards: Maintain precise, confidential clinical records in compliance with GDPR and strictly adhere to the BABCP Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

    • Manage Client Engagement Directly: Handle all aspects of client communication including scheduling, therapeutic contracting, fee arrangements, and maintaining professional boundaries online.

    • Engage in Specialist CBT Supervision: Actively participate in regular clinical supervision with a BABCP-accredited CBT supervisor.

    • Optional In-Person Delivery: Potential to offer face-to-face sessions if you have suitable insured premises, coordinated through the platform.

    Essential Requirements

    • BABCP-Accredited CBT Training: Successful completion of postgraduate training (Postgraduate Diploma or Master's Degree - Level 7) in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from a course fully accredited by the BABCP. (This training typically follows an undergraduate degree, potentially in a core mental health profession, but the key is the BABCP accreditation of the CBT course itself).

    • Mandatory BABCP Accreditation: Full Accreditation as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) is an essential requirement for this role.

    • Clinical Experience: Demonstrable post-qualification experience delivering effective CBT interventions for a range of client presentations, consistent with the standards required for BABCP accreditation.

    • Specialist CBT Supervision: Verifiable arrangement for ongoing clinical supervision with a supervisor who is themselves accredited by BABCP as a supervisor.

    • Professional Indemnity Insurance: Must hold adequate, current professional indemnity insurance covering independent CBT practice in the UK.

    • Right to Work: Must possess the legal right to work on a self-employed basis in the UK.

    • Technical Proficiency & Setup: Reliable high-speed internet, appropriate device for secure video sessions, and a private, confidential setting suitable for therapy.

    • Core Competencies: Strong skills in CBT formulation and application, therapeutic alliance building, ethical reasoning, record-keeping, and self-management.

    Desirable Requirements

    • Experience within NHS Talking Therapies / IAPT services.

    • Accredited training or significant experience in specific CBT protocols or third-wave approaches (e.g., TF-CBT, CFT, ACT, DBT skills).

    • Experience working with more complex presentations.

    • BABCP accreditation as a Supervisor or Trainer.

    • Proven experience in delivering therapy effectively via remote platforms.

    CONDITIONS OF ENGAGEMENT (SELF-EMPLOYED BASIS)

    • Maximum Flexibility: You dictate your own working hours, availability, and the number of clients you see.

    • Full Practice Autonomy: You are in complete control of your clinical decisions, scheduling, and client management.

    • Work from Anywhere (UK): Deliver therapy remotely from any suitable location within the United Kingdom.

    • Set Your Own Fees: Determine your professional hourly rate based on your expertise and experience. You arrange and receive payments directly from clients. (Typical rates for BABCP-accredited CBT Therapists in private practice often range £60 - £110+ per hour).
