All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.
Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.
Overview
This is a pro-bono position.
JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.
This role will manage the JerseySTEM 14 week Externship program where Interns (undergraduate Students) shadow JerseySTEM technology leaders and particiapte in projects. The Externship program manager coordinates the recruitment of the interns, their onboarding and ensures they have a positive experience at JerseySTEM.
Responsibilities
Interview with incoming interns
Help assigning them to projects by working with the host teams
Organize virtual learning and social event for the college students
Engage with the Students University Advisors Qualifications
Familiarity with early career members
Ability to work with little direction
Meticuously follow up with internal an external stakeholders
