Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Contract: permanent after successful completion of 6-month probation

Annual Salary: £23,000 per annum

Location: Work from home (must be based in the UK) or at Sheffield HQ

We’re looking for an experienced KS2 teacher with a specialist knowledge of English and SPaG to join our team of passionate teachers working to create Twinkl’s online content for educators across the UK. In this role, you will be responsible for the creation of resources for our English product lines. You will work alongside other content writers and editors to engage with product priorities to facilitate the highest possible quality of teacher content for our customers.

Your weekly activities could include:

  • Checking a broad range of new resources for spelling, punctuation, grammar, curriculum relevance and factual accuracy;
  • Sensitively offering feedback, advice and support to our writers where needed;
  • Sharing specialist English and SPaG knowledge with the team about how to edit a variety of resources which engage learners and appeal to teachers;
  • Running workshops with other members of your team;
  • Editing existing content on site to ensure that it is up to date and meets customers' needs;
  • Meeting with other members of the team to discuss and develop new ideas;
  • Demonstrating excellent communication skills with the writers, editors, designers and illustrators that you collaborate with.

Remote working and hours:

  • Although we allow flexible working patterns to fit in around family or other commitments, our full-time team members working 37.5 hours per week are expected to complete most of their work during office hours, Monday to Friday. To be considered for this role, you would need to be available around our core hours (10am-2pm) Monday to Friday. You will need to have good daytime availability for training, meetings, collaboration and ongoing CPD, particularly in your training period/first month. The role also requires attendance at a team meeting on Tuesday afternoons at 2pm.
  • Remaining hours outside of the core working times can be agreed upon between you and your line manager to fit around your current commitments and business needs.
  • Essential for remote working - You will need access to a fast and reliable internet connection of at least 6mb down and 1mb upload. We recommend you use speedtest.net to check.

Requirements

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • have completed primary qualified teacher status: PGCE, B.Ed or equivalent;
  • have 2 years of full classroom teaching experience after QTS is complete;
  • have detailed and up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum in England and be a confident practitioner in its delivery;
  • have essential, specialist knowledge of SPaG;
  • be a fantastic communicator who thrives when working in a close-knit team;
  • have detailed and up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum in England;
  • be an experienced KS2 teacher with classroom teaching experience in Y3-Y6;
  • be prepared to confidently work between different IT platforms, including Google Workspace (Google Docs and Google Sheets), Microsoft Word and PowerPoint;
  • understand the teaching community in England, knowing their unique pressures and current educational trends;
  • have a drive for continuous professional development;

In this role, you will learn:

  • how to check content and provide feedback for our writers;
  • how to work in ‘agile’ teams, allowing you to solve problems and change tasks quickly to meet deadlines;
  • how to collaborate with educational professionals based across the UK through our company focus groups and customer feedback requests;
  • how to apply your teaching experience to create new products, from ideation stage to publication;
  • how to use Project Tracking software as well as other in-house systems.

You’ll be working with:

  • Becky Escreet (English UK Product Owner)
  • Emma Dennis (English UK Team Leader), who will be your Line Manager.
  • Alice Kendall (English UK Team Leader)
  • Our team of qualified teachers who currently write, edit and produce content for the English team.
  • Our amazing in-house design and illustration teams, collaborating daily to produce the beautiful, polished resources that Twinkl are known for.

Essential requirements:

  • Has taught English across key stage two as a fully qualified teacher with full class responsibility in UK Primary Schools;
  • Has taught English in a KS2 classroom setting within the last 2 years;
  • Has essential, specialist SPaG knowledge;
  • Has detailed knowledge of the content of the National Curriculum in England;
  • You would need to be available around our core hours (10am-2pm) Monday to Friday. The role also requires attendance at a team meeting on Tuesday afternoons at 2pm.

Desirable requirements:

  • Has led English as a subject leader or co-ordinator;
  • Has experience creating or delivering English CPD content.
