Work/Project Scope:
The Data Science and Analytics team is looking for a senior analyst to drive insights and identify opportunities for the Ads and Monetization team. This role is critical to understanding business and user behavior trends, building efficient data pipelines, developing data visualization, and delivering reports and forecasts in the auction, ads, and market design domain. This individual will drive insights and partner cross-functionally with product management, engineering, user research, finance, marketing, and analytics teams to compel changes in our strategy. As a critical member of the Marketplace Analytics team, you’ll use your quantitative background and expertise in manipulating large datasets to bring unparalleled insights into user behavior and site performance. Our team tackles a multitude of exciting challenges including experimentation design and management, business metric definition and monitoring, user behavior analysis, modeling and forecasting impact, building and improving data pipelines, and tracking of our business progress to enable Upwork’s growth. - Work with engineering and product on data pipelines to ensure business impacts can be tracked efficiently in complex environments.
- Define the metrics teams use to evaluate their success, perform analysis to understand the impact on growth and track progress toward those results.
- Design and evaluate tests to ensure we track the causal impact from product changes on business rigorously.
- Present in key meetings and business reviews with our product leadership.
- Tackle complex problems inherent to a double-sided marketplace. Deliver insights that drive changes in team strategy using SQL, Python, R, and/or other scripting and statistical tools.
Must-Have Skills:
- Strong SQL skills.
- Proficiency in any data orchestration and scheduling job tools (such as AirFlow, DBT, Rundeck, or Argo).
- Experience in data modeling, data design, ETL (extract, transform, and load), or star schema is a plus.
- Experience working as an analytics engineer is a plus.
- Proficiency in R, Python, or other programming languages for statistical analysis is a plus.
- Experience working with BI visualization tools (such as Looker) is a plus.
- Experience working with two-sided marketplaces, ads, or auctions is a plus.
