About the role
Lead a data team focused on maximizing the value of organisational data. You will manage the consumption layer of the data pipeline, support data product owners in delivering new features, champion data observability and quality, and promote data literacy across the organisation. This role drives the realization of LWB's data strategy, fostering a data-informed decision-making culture through strong delivery and collaboration. This is a permanent full time opportunity and can be located anywhere in Australia. You can work from home or one of our offices, wherever you work best!
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Analytics Centre of Excellence (ACE), providing mentorship and professional development for data professionals across data communities.
Provide supervision and support enabling team to produce data products.
Work with data product owners to design and implement data products and services.
Promote data & analytics strategy
Determine the appropriate tools and methodologies to deliver data & analytics service
Manage and optimise data consumption infrastructure (semantic layer, visualisation)
Set up and maintain data observability platform
Encourage data citizens to re-use trusted data products for integration and analytical functions.
Set, monitor and maintain quality standards for documentation of data products.
Promote opportunities to explore predictive and prescriptive analytics to help solve business problems.
Model, support and adhere to all security management processes and procedures, aligning where appropriate to internal and industry requirements.
Develop and implement change management for core data platforms to meet product integrity and service standards.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technology and make recommendations to resolve business issues and pain points and to improve plans, processes and procedures ·
Actively contribute to discussions to create, explore, improve and implement ideas, projects and plans, for example retros and showcases.
Skills & Experience:
Tertiary level qualifications in a computer science or a related IT discipline
Experience leading a team of data professionals.
Demonstrated experience as a Senior Developer or similar role in a large geographically dispersed organisation.
Demonstrated experience with:
Data Warehousing platforms (e.g. AWS Redshift, Snowflake)
ELT / ETL platforms (e.g. AWS Glue, Talend)
Analytics platforms (e.g. Knime, Alteryx)
Cloud based infrastructure (e.g. AWS. Azure, Fabric)
Demonstrated experience with data visualisation platforms (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets
Experience in learning new platforms and utilising new technologies
Demonstrated experience in managing competing priorities and to deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes and quality standards.
Highly skilled in data manipulation and blending
Understanding of data modelling, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
Working knowledge of data lakes, data warehouses.
Understanding of enterprise data strategies, data governance, privacy and security.
The ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
Strong communications skills engaging with both technical and non-technical users Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check.
