Job Summary
The Cloud Database and Storage Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based database and storage solutions. This role involves ensuring the performance, availability, and security of database and storage services in cloud environments.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Design and develop scalable and secure cloud database and storage architectures.
- Migrate existing databases to cloud platforms and integrate with cloud services.
- Monitor and optimize database performance and storage utilization.
- Implement and maintain database backup, disaster recovery, and replication strategies.
- Deploy, configure, test and document resiliency and availability of database and storage solutions in cloud environments to achieve business objectives.
- Develop scripts to automate deployment of database and storage resources and services using Ansible, Terraform and PowerShell playbooks.
- Setup processes and procedures to ensure changes in production databases are properly protected and recoverable.
- Evaluate new database and storage technologies, enhancements and functions.
- Create and setup automation process to validate data integrity before and after failover.
- Create and maintain database and storage recovery and validation scripts.
- Implement and maintain database and storage encryption technologies.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and protection regulations.
- Create automation process to monitor database and storage performance, reliability and availability.
- Develop scripts to automatically remediate database and storage performance and availability issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate database and storage technologies with other company systems.
- Stay current with emerging database and storage technologies and trends in cloud environments.
- Create and maintain detailed solution diagrams associated with database and storage deployments, dependency mapping and business process flows.
- Ensure database and storage failover processes are efficient and reliable.
- Create and maintain recovery runbooks and standard operating procedures for database and storage technologies.
- Develop and participate in resiliency, performance, functionality, load and chaos tests for critical business applications and business processes.
- Participate in the planning and execution of resiliency tests.
- Interview application to determine data flow, latency and performance requirements.
- Direct involvement in setup and tear down of test environments.
- Setup and effectively use troubleshooting and monitoring tools to quickly diagnose connectivity and performance issues.
Job Qualifications
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree.
Required Experience
• 1-4 years of IT technical experience with IT enterprise infrastructure.
• Industry certifications preferred.
