This opportunity resides with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Summary

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Curriculum Developer/Instructor (Remote/Part Time) with DOD experience, supporting the Defense Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS). The selected candidate will adapt and develop training curriculums to a more adult-learner, centered, and experiential-based instructional model, in order to facilitate delivery of more tailored and effective training curriculum for the DIILS Program, headquartered in Newport, RI! Position is remote and part time, with occasional CONUS and/or OCONUS travel. Come join our growing team today!

What you will do

  • Maintain customer software inventory and network licensing information
  • Conduct training in support of DIILS
  • Provide legal subject matter expertise and pedagogical expertise in curriculum and instructional design for adult learning in preparing, modifying, developing and/or delivering curriculum modules with a potential focus on the application of human rights law, law of armed conflict, rule of law, cyber security, and international rights and obligations relevant to the air, border, and maritime domains pursuant to consultation and coordination with relevant personnel
    • This will include associated supporting content, learning objectives, desired outcomes, measures of success, and instructor notes and guidance that will be derived from, informed by, and consistent with the substantive contents of the existing DoD General Counsel-approved government-provided Curriculum
  • Commence curriculum development as a member of the team. Curriculum Development may be conducted in coordination with other designated personnel designated
  • Provide a weekly status report by email updating the progress of curriculum development
  • Prepare a written draft After Action Report (AAR) identifying the achievement of curriculum development outcomes, in accordance with formal and informal feedback
  • Participate in a final review of the work product out brief
  • Familiarize with standard concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Display basic knowledge of electronic media, local area networks and associated accessories
  • Execute additional duties as tasked by Govt leads
  • Additional duties as assigned or required

What we are looking for

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field
  • Familiarity with International Human Rights Law, Law of Armed Conflict, and Rule of Law topical areas, cyber security, and international rights and obligations relevant to the air, border, and maritime domains
  • Familiarity with applying international and domestic law to military and law enforcement operations
  • Must have experience researching and writing related to proposed topics
  • Ability to communicate multifaceted issues in an effective manner, discuss complex problems, conduct analysis, and recommend solutions
  • Ability to work effectively in a team instructional environment
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain up to TS/SCI clearance

Bonus points for...

  • 5 years experience in applying international and domestic law to military and law enforcement operations
  • 5 years experience in applying international and domestic law to maritime operations and/or the maritime domain
  • Experience in writing for international audiences similar in size and composition to the audience anticipated for DIILS events
  • Recent and relevant international instructional and research experience in International Human Rights Law, Law of Armed Conflict, and Rule of Law (experience within the last two years)

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
