Director, California

AVL Test Systems, Inc. (TSI) is a leader in technology, with an expansive portfolio to meet customer's needs. From outfiting complete battery labs to component testing, AVL TSI provides solutions to advance e-mobility projects. TSI conintues to deliver ADAS/AD solutions that help our customers create a safe autonomous future. Locally, we commission equipment & tools, develop solutions, and create custom software. Our team provides, project management, test system engineering, service, support manufacturing and specification of solutions. We are looking to increase our efforts in California with the addition of a Director in CA to our team.

The Director position will provide direction and be responsible for sales, delivery and service in California through direction and support of a local team and in conjunction with the overall TSI team. This position will drive growth strategy in battery & power electronics through strategic planning processes/activities, customer engagement & sales activities, and success customer service. This position is a key role in continuing and establishing AVL's continued growth in CA. The Director will interface heavily internally, in addition to externally with customers/vendors.

Roles:

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Sustained profitable growth of our business in California in all business areas (software, products, projects, service) with goals being communicated by management.
  • Meeting financial targets as set in annual plans/budgets: OI, Sales, Structural/Department Costs.
  • Customer satisfaction: determines measurement and ensures satisfaction from those measurements.
  • Finding new customers/markets (Sales, Marketing, physical presence, customer awareness of AVL) – Goal of increasing California accounts in SFDC by 15%/year.
  • Effective/efficient execution of delivery:
    • Skill team development and resource management.
    • Processes and interaction with rest of TSI and global organization.
  • Annual business planning and quarterly plus Mid-Term Plan Forecasting.

Additional roles include:

  • Develops relationships with customers and vendors in the market.
  • Obtains profit contribution by managing staff and establishing and accomplishing business objectives.
  • Builds company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees; and enforcing ethical business practices.
  • Increases management’s effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining managers; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; developing incentives; cultivating a climate for offering information and opinions and providing educational opportunities.
  • Develops strategic plans by studying technological and financial opportunities, presenting analysis, and recommending objectives.
  • Accomplishes subsidiary objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; and making mid-course corrections.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing performance standards.
  • Manages dotted line relationships with rest of TSI organization through daily interactions, strategic and longer-term initiatives, and divisions of labor and responsibilities, in addition to other efforts.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related required.

  • Master’s degree in Engineering/Business or related preferred.

  • 15+ years’ experience in related field.

  • 10+ years’ supervisory of personnel experience.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • A strategic focus on customer satisfaction.

  • Proven leadership skills.

  • Self-motivated to resolve conflicts and identify solutions.

  • Familiar with business development and accounting tools to create forecasts and define/control ongoing business development activities.

  • Experience with a cost and profit center with proven results.

  • Experience in electrification or software is preferred.

  • A background in service is required.

Compensation in CA for this opportunity is a min. of $135,000.
