About the Corporate FPA Team

The Thumbtack Finance team’s mission is to be a strategic finance partner to the business to enable better business decisions that are supported by data while building a world class finance function and to do it all with integrity.

The Corporate FPA team is a highly visible team that helps plan and evaluate Thumbtack’s financial performance against company goals. Our team’s mission is to deliver timely, complete and accurate financial information that can be relied on to help drive impactful business decisions. The FPA team provides critical financial reporting and insights to the organization, leadership team, Board, and investors.

About the Role

Director of Corporate FPA is responsible for leading corporate financial planning, reporting and Opex management. As the most senior member of Corporate FPA, you will be directly responsible for owning key financial and KPI reporting including monthly business reviews, Board presentations and other financial reporting. You will collaborate with Business Finance to consolidate and review all plan assumptions to ensure appropriate accountability and clarity, with vigilant attention to cash flow and balance sheet management, sound internal financial control and management of financial risks. You also work across all company functions to ensure decision making within the organization is supported with timely, accurate and insightful information.

You are responsible to ensure the Corporate FPA team is prepared to provide appropriate insights through analysis. The role is looked upon to provide leadership in creating an environment where business and financial information is accessible, timely, accurate and relevant to the decision-making process. You will be expected to be an independent trusted advisor to management through interpreting business results and assessing business risk. You will be adept at using a variety of tools to carry out their responsibilities including operational and financial systems, PL and cash flow models, and ROI and portfolio analysis concepts.

You should have the desire and ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Partnering with critical stakeholders across the Finance, Accounting and Executive Leadership team within Thumbtack, the Director, Corporate FPA will lead the development of solutions that accelerate cycle times and alleviate manual processes. This role will report to the VP Finance and interact heavily with the CFO and Executive Leadership team. Corporate FPA and Opex management teams report into this role. You will play a critical role in helping Thumbtack become public company ready.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership on timely insightful analysis to drive value-creating business decisions
  • Leadership of financial forecast and planning processes, including process management, communication and reporting
  • Ownership of management financial reporting including Board decks, annual budget, weekly and monthly business reviews
  • Strong partnership collaboration with accounting, other FPA and analytics teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Responsible for Opex financial management for all Budget owners
  • Own and improve current systems and processes to increase productivity and accuracy of the FPA team
  • Manage frequent ad hoc projects to support management and business decisions

  • 8+ years of FPA experience
  • Experience working in Corporate FPA and Business Finance
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, using key tools within Excel and G-Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to tell the story beyond the numbers
  • Ability to translate financial analysis into clear and insightful recommendations

Bonus points if you have

  • Experience working in Investment Banking or Management consulting
  • Experience working for a consumer tech company, marketplace a plus
  • Experience within a public company environment

For candidates living in San Francisco / Bay Area, New York City, or Seattle metros, the expected salary range for the role is currently $240,000 - $300,000. Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.

For candidates living in all other US locations, the expected salary range for this role is currently $210,000 - $260,000. Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
