As the Director of Developer Marketing, you will combine deep customer empathy and understanding with analytical marketing skills to promote growth, engagement, and evangelism within the Developer ecosystem. As a key member of the Marketing leadership team, you will spearhead our Developer Marketing initiatives, advocating for our developer needs and steering our work to fulfill these requirements. You will navigate across product, engineering, data science, partnerships, all while advancing the creative facets of marketing through compelling narratives and designs. You will report to the VP of Marketing.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Strategic Leadership: Craft and implement the overarching strategy for Developer Marketing at Discord. Develop a comprehensive plan focused on acquiring, engaging, and fostering developer evangelism and goodwill.
  • Ecosystem Expertise: Gain an in-depth understanding of the Developer ecosystem, including its landscape and the needs of our customers. Be an internal champion for these needs, ensuring they guide our marketing strategies.
  • Program Growth: Develop and lead Developer marketing programs and activations, working across content, channels, events, partnerships, creative and more to acquire new Developers and improve adoption of Developer tools and products.
  • Narrative Development: Shape our Developer narrative. Define how we present our offerings to the Developer community, crafting stories and key messages that resonate and articulate our value proposition.
  • Revenue Partnership: Collaborate closely with the revenue marketing team to uncover monetization opportunities. Ensure alignment between key messages, programs, and activities.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Manage initiatives with partnerships, marketing, product, and more to showcase our developer offerings. Lead efforts to boost adoption and promote advocacy, aligning with broader goals.
  • Team Management: Oversee a small, efficient team of product marketers and community managers. Guide their development and ensure their efforts contribute to our Developer Marketing goals.

  • You have 12+ years of marketing experience including 5+ years of developer marketing experience
  • You have a deep passion for Discord’s mission, our business, and what we’re building for Developers
  • You are highly creative and analytical. You are equally comfortable in front of a whiteboard brainstorming a big idea as you are measuring program effectiveness targets with data science and finance.
  • You are an expert in understanding marketing programs, growth levers, and ways to drive adoption
  • You are an exceptional communicator, able to boil down dynamic insights and complex information into concise stories and actionable recommendations.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to operate with empathy, agility, and flexibility in a hybrid, collaborative and fast-paced environment with team members, colleagues, and cross-functional partners.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $257,000-283,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
