Job Description

At Qualia, we've built the leading B2B real estate technology that transforms the home buying and selling experience into a simple, secure, and enjoyable process. Our SMB and Enterprise products bring together users from across the real estate ecosystem – homebuyers and sellers, lenders, title and escrow agents, and real estate agents – onto a single shared digital closing platform, providing greater clarity and transparency to real estate transactions. Today, through our business customers across the country, millions of consumers use Qualia to close on homes every year.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

We are seeking a strong engineering and product leader for our Resware product, which is used by leading companies in the title insurance and settlement services industry. Resware is the leading on-premise, Enterprise product in the title industry and is used by many of the largest and most complex companies in the industry. You’ll manage our 30-person engineering and product team and represent the team as a member of the Resware leadership team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represent the Resware engineering and product teams at the platform and company level
  • Lead a 30-person department with software and QA engineers and product managers
  • Own the product roadmap and long-term product strategy for Resware
  • Lead engineering and product hiring, onboarding, and training
  • Lead major technology and architectural decisions
  • Provide career growth and learning opportunities for all team members
  • Create and evangelize coding, engineering, and testing standards and processes
  • Ensure non-functional requirements such as application security, performance, and quality are met
  • Set direction for quality assurance and drive test automation strategy
  • Ensure that CI and CD practices are correctly developed, implemented, and monitored
  • Determine the mix of skills, experience, and roles across all engineering and product teams
  • Collaborate with product and customer success teams to schedule and deliver enhancements
  • Manage communications with external vendors
  • Direct customer research & discovery to drive the product roadmap inputs
  • Present to customers and at conferences, representing the product line

YOUR BACKGROUND THAT LIKELY MAKES YOU A MATCH

  • 12+ years of experience working at software product companies
  • 7+ years of experience as an engineering leader, with 4+ years of experience as a second-level manager, setting goals and vision for the department
  • You’ve managed an engineering team of 20+ people
  • You have experience running a product line, including engineering, QA/UAT, and product management functions, perhaps as a CTO of a smaller company
  • Knowledge of C# and .NET
  • Experience developing and supporting a large enterprise software product. You should be comfortable working in a large code base (4M lines of code) and with large databases (> 1 TB in size), as many problems we encounter are scaling issues – of the code base, and customer databases
  • Direct experience modernizing an older, thick-client (WinForms) application to one that is WPF and web-based is a plus; you should be familiar with on-premise software deployments and the challenges they present
  • You have good knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud infrastructure (we currently use the cloud for all UAT activity)
  • You understand modern product discovery and delivery practices
  • You have experience mentoring individual contributors, engineering managers, and product managers. Your coaching and mentoring skills are strong across engineering, architecture, testing, and product disciplines
  • Strong hands-on technical leadership, people management, project management, and communication skills, yet you relinquish control and empower the team to do their own discovery, fact-finding, and data analysis
  • You are constantly learning new technologies and holding your team accountable to do the same
  • You are driven by measurable metrics and outcomes
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning development using libraries like Tensorflow or PyTorch. Experience with cloud-based LLM APIs is a plus.
  • Experience developing software for use in real estate or title and settlement services is a plus
  • Denver region preferred

Colorado Applicants: This role has a base annual salary of $250,000 - $270,000 plus a competitive equity and benefits package. (Salary to be determined by relevant experience, location, knowledge, and skills of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
