The Director of Operational Excellence is an inspiring, results-oriented leader with a deep passion for driving meaningful and sustainable continuous improvement through Lean transformation. This key role will be at the forefront of partnering with site leadership across multiple facilities to bring Biomerics' strategic objectives to life. With an unwavering focus on fostering a culture of continuous improvement, this individual will champion initiatives that are not only measurable and actionable but also designed to deliver long-lasting, sustainable results that elevate the entire organization.
Travel for this role will be 50%.
Responsibilities
- Align operational initiatives with the executive leadership team's overarching goals, ensuring the execution of business strategy at all levels.
• Influence and collaborate with site leadership teams to define and implement strategic initiatives aimed at fostering operational excellence across the organization.
• Effectively link shop floor improvements with Biomerics’ Vision, Mission, and Values, ensuring alignment and engagement across all levels of the company.
• Lead the development and deployment of core competencies for the Biomerics Production System, ensuring a robust and unified approach across all facilities.
• Standardize and streamline tools, templates, and methodologies for consistent application of best practices across production sites.
• Provide ongoing training, coaching, and support to site teams in implementing and sustaining BPS standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate cross-site collaboration, learning, and the effective utilization of Biomerics Production System tools, while tracking and reporting on real-time improvements.
• Mentor and develop OpEx team members through a structured train-the-trainer approach, ensuring knowledge transfer and skill-building across the organization.
• Maintain a disciplined cadence of accountability, ensuring that improvements are sustained and scaled across all sites.
• Oversee the savings pipeline, using tools and methodologies to track and execute cost-saving projects and initiatives.
• Provide regular reports on enterprise-level performance relative to strategic goals and thematic initiatives.
• Champion Biomerics' core Values in all aspects of daily operations, fostering a culture of integrity, collaboration, and excellence.
• Lead organizational change by building trust, facilitating transparent communication, and creating an environment of accountability and empowerment.
• Develop and cultivate talent within the OpEx team through continuous coaching, training, and mentorship, with a focus on long-term professional growth.
• Foster an inclusive environment where all sites collaborate, celebrate achievements, and embrace Lean thinking as a core principle of daily operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Business (MBA preferred).
• A minimum of 10 years of Lean manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role (experience in the medical device industry preferred).
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to support operational initiatives across multiple sites.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Lean Management methodologies and a proven track record of driving sustainable improvements at an enterprise level.
• Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, engage, and motivate teams at all levels.
• Demonstrated experience in improving organizational capabilities through targeted learning and development initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. - In-depth knowledge of Toyota Production System (TPS) and its application in a variety of manufacturing settings.
- Familiarity with Danaher Business System (DBS) or similar Lean frameworks.
