About the Position

The Director of Partnerships will build and manage the team responsible for fundraising during the next era of growth at Prime Coalition. This is an opportunity to pioneer the position, serve on the senior leadership team, and help build a precedent-setting organization that stands to unleash the power of financial markets for social and environmental benefits. The Director will have familiarity with a wide range of fundraising channels, especially high-net-worth individuals, private foundations, and donor-advised funds. They will have a successful track record of closing 6 and 7-figure donations, as well as the capacity to show funders the value of Prime and prove the impact of their investment. The Director will manage the partnerships team, represent the partnerships and senior leadership teams to Prime’s governing and advisory committees, and build staff capacity focused on partnerships strategy, including stewardship of existing relationships.

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a visible and active member of Prime’s senior leadership team.
  • Develop a strong, strategic partnership with the Executive Director, Director of Finance & Operations, Director of Impact, and each vertical program lead, including Azolla Ventures, Trellis Climate, Impact Accountability, and others to be built.
  • Contribute to the implementation of Prime’s 10-year strategic vision and 2-year adaptive plan by owning and executing Prime’s general operating and catalytic capital fundraising.
  • Support the Executive Director in staffing the full Board of Directors, and staff subcommittees of the board, such as the board’s Nominations Committee and additionality committees, with a priority on increasing diversity of parties represented on all governing and advisory committees.
  • Create, advocate, and manage Partnerships department budget(s) in collaboration with the Director of Finance & Operations.
  • Based on sense of funder market readiness, inform overall organizational budgeting, across both general operating budget and catalytic capital programming.

Team Building, Fundraising, and Management

  • Manage the Partnerships team and lead the recruitment of new Partnerships team members.
  • Design and structure roles and responsibilities across the Partnerships team to effectively meet Prime’s annual fundraising goals.
  • Create and implement Prime’s inaugural capital campaign, including general operating support and a catalytic capital pool.
  • Cultivate and own deals within fundraising pipelines and drive to close.
  • With time, help build and lead Prime’s marketing and communications strategy and team.

Talent, Culture, and Education

  • Promote a culture of humility, tenacity, and care within Prime.
  • Train the team about how to conduct both nonprofit and catalytic capital fundraising.
  • Encourage leadership development through the mentoring of own direct reports as well as accessible training about Partnerships priorities firm-wide.
  • Ensure appropriate onboarding and training for all Partnerships team members about Prime’s programmatic strategies and interventions.
  • Be a steady advocate for Prime’s DEIB goals as they pertain to the Partnerships team.
  • Serve as an active senior leader at Prime to foster an organizational culture that aligns with Prime’s values and priorities around DEIB and wellness.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 10+ years of management experience.
  • Record of building and driving nonprofit fundraising campaigns through to success.
  • Experience building and managing seven-figure nonprofit budgets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of catalytic capital and blended finance.
  • Passion for impact-first investing.
  • Experience working at or with private foundations, donor-advised funds, or corporate giving programs.
  • Experience stewarding governing board committees.
  • Domain expertise and/or fluency in climate change mitigation and/or adaptation preferred.
  • Public speaking and communications experience strongly preferred.
