We’re seeking an EDI & Payments Technologist to support healthcare data exchange and payment ingestion into our proprietary systems. This is a remote position.
What you’ll do:
Design, develop, and support ingestion of bank payment and remittance files into Zotec systems
Work with client banks and trading partners to onboard and support new file formats
Develop and maintain automation to process X12, flat files, XML, and PDFs
Manipulate and troubleshoot PDF-based remittance and payment documents, including text extraction and validation
Support and troubleshoot HIPAA X12 transactions, with an emphasis on 835 remittance advice
Monitor inbound file processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and SLA compliance
Investigate and resolve discrepancies between payment files, PDFs, EDI data, and database records
Collaborate with internal teams to define mapping, validation rules, and error-handling strategies
Build tools and scripts to improve reliability, visibility, and automation of payment ingestion
Clearly communicate technical issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Act as an ambassador for Zotec’s purpose, initiatives, and goals
What will you bring to Zotec:
Strong experience reading and working with .NET code
Hands-on experience with:
C#
SQL
Python
Experience with file ingestion, parsing, and transformation
Practical experience working with PDFs, including text-based and scanned documents
Understanding of bank remittance and payment file workflows
Experience with ASP.NET, LINQ, and Microsoft Visual Studio
Knowledge of EDI concepts and best practices in healthcare
Experience with HIPAA X12 v5010, especially:
835 (required)
837, 999, TA1 (preferred)
Familiarity with healthcare business processes such as claims and remittance
Working knowledge of XML and flat-file formats
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across systems and file types
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and lead small initiatives
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Nice to have:
Experience with lockbox or bank remittance processing
Experience with OCR or PDF text extraction tools
Familiarity with healthcare code sets (ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS)
Experience supporting proprietary or legacy systems
