Job Description

Get to know us

At eyeo, we transform the internet into a trusted, sustainable and accessible place where users regain control over their experience, content creators and publishers are rewarded for their content, and advertisers and consumers can connect on mutually agreed terms.

eyeo’s market-leading ad-filtering technology powers products like Adblock Plus and AdBlock as well as technical integrations for popular browsers. Our solutions empower users to control their online experience and privacy, while providing monetization for content creators, publishers and advertisers.

In combining our partnerships and our subsidiary products, our technology reaches 300 million monthly active users worldwide.

eyeo is a global employer of over 300 people working remotely in more than 30 countries (predominantly North America and Europe) with our HQ in Berlin and small offices in Cologne, Toronto and NYC (opens in 24).

How we work

eyeo has colleagues based all over the world. We love our diversity and take great pride in our company culture. We practice an independent, remote workstyle with work distributed in cross-functional matrix teams that span predominantly EST and CET time zones. If working remotely isn’t for you, we also have a large office in Berlin and soon in NYC that you can choose to work from. Quarterly, we come together as an executive team and once a year, we host an all company retreat, our Summer Week. By enabling remote work and in-person sessions, we have built a hybrid culture that provides a unique dynamic of flexibility and belonging.

What you'll do

The B2C Platform User Accounts team is going through a period of transformation, with the goal of ensuring that the foundations of our Premium browser extension business are scalable and ready for the future: license management, payment processing, etc. We are looking for an Engineering Lead to help drive this transformation, and continually ensure that these foundations are solid.

As Engineering Lead of a globally distributed team of engineers, you will ensure that its members have what they need to be successful at eyeo and grow professionally. You will also be responsible for the delivery of the team, producing scalable solutions that are aligned with business goals, while being driven in a sustainable way.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence team culture, and work with your team members on both strategy and execution.

Your day-to-day activities:

  • Develop talent through onboarding, mentoring, coaching, feedback, and hands-on career development. Encourage and celebrate the learnings and successes of your people
  • Build a team culture that is collaborative, inclusive and respectful
  • Contribute to the overall technical strategy of the unit and of eyeo, translate it into projects and deliverables, and help engineers understand how their daily work contributes to it
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure the right processes and tools are in place
  • Facilitate necessary technical and architectural discussions and decision making, within the team and across teams
  • Effectively set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
  • Maintain a balance between building high-quality technology, preventing technical debt, and predictable and frequent delivery

What you bring to the table

  • Experience in leading distributed, cross-functional teams, ideally developing SaaS products and/or platforms
  • Extensive experience in software development, particularly in Node.js and Python
  • Experience with at least one of Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services
  • Passion about introducing software engineering best practices, like continuous integration and continuous delivery
  • Experience with agile software development and continuous improvement, particularly in collaboration with Product Managers/Owners
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

It’s awesome if you have

  • Experience with user account management systems
  • Experience building subscription-based B2C platforms supporting millions of users
  • Experience with payment and licensing systems like Paddle, Stripe and/or PayPal
  • Experience in the ad tech sector

What we offer

  • Work remotely or from one of our offices —we trust you to find what works best for you
  • Budget for the following: home office and/or relocation
  • Flexible working hours
  • 28 days paid vacation + Volunteer day
  • Sabbatical leave allowance after 2 years
  • Your choice of hardware and setup
  • Personal and professional development budget
  • Monthly child care allowance for children under 6
  • Offsite team days and the annual summer company retreat
