Department Overview

Motorola Solutions is looking for an Engineering Site Lead who will help establish and grow our Ireland Digital Center of Excellence (DCOE) R&D site and support day-to-day office operations. As part of MSI’s global strategy to digitally transform its business, the center will develop, enhance, maintain & protect the digital and data assets. The ideal candidate will help attract and retain local & EU talent, including hiring funnels, own day-to-day office operations, and embed our company culture in the site. You will work alongside our Business and management leaders, R&D team and Local administrative team. You will be a key member of our global product development leadership team and will work closely with other leaders across the organization to drive growth and innovation.


Job Description

We are looking for a proactive and charismatic leader who can motivate and develop staff into a dynamic and professional team providing consistently high standards. Responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Establishing and managing the Digital Center of Excellence (DCOE) software engineering site as we rapidly grow

  • Leading and developing a team of managers and individual contributors across a range of functions, including software development, R&D, test and software production

  • Representing and advocating for the team at company and department level

  • Helping establish a culture of continuous learning in the team and effective agile team and technical practices

  • Willingness to work "hands on" as part of the team when required for the business

  • Working with product owners/managers to plan and scope projects and features

  • Collaborating with other leaders across the organization to drive growth and innovation

  • Ensuring that the office is aligned with the broader goals and strategies of the company/business

  • Developing and implementing strategies to attract and retain top talent in the Ireland market

  • Establishing and maintaining data governance practices, ensuring data accuracy, security, and compliance with industry standards and regulations

  • Being a trusted advisor, with an ability to develop a depth and breadth of business relationships externally at key decision maker levels (College campuses, Chamber of commerce, industry and community events, IDA, peer companies)


Basic Requirements

  • Experience in building and managing a center for a global technology company - telecom, cloud, SaaS, Android, Mobile platforms or similar fields

  • Managing 50+ employees

  • Significant experience in technology leadership and people management roles

  • Strong technical background, with experience managing product and R&D

  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a high-performing team

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to understand and align with broader company goals and strategies

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

  • Fluent in English

  • Preference will be given to individual from Cork and Dublin area
