Job Purpose and Impact

The Equine Technical Lead – Research and Development will provide coaching and leadership to internal and external partners to ensure research is executed in a way that meets project and business goals and complies with all applicable protocols. In this role, you will provide guidance and training to research partners and foster those relationships in a way ensures completion of research goals.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop research pipeline aligned to value generation and commercialization roadmap for equine products and provide technical equine nutrition support.
  • Provide guidance and support for the execution of applied research trials or studies and equine technical product design ensuring all parties involved follow protocols.
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with internal and external research partners.
  • Lead contact with research partners on day to day basis to ensure research protocol are followed.
  • Design and execute necessary training for those involved in trials to ensure all protocols are understood.
  • Lead data collection related to trials or studies.
  • Monitor technical budget and metrics and report to stakeholders monthly.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree (or above) in Animal Science, Equine Nutrition or related field

  • Minimum of six years of related work experience (can include experience gained in academia)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing budgets and relationships with research partners

  • PhD in Animal Science, Equine Nutrition or related field

  • DVM with relevant equine research trial experience

  • Commercial experience

  • Business acumen

  • Ability to formulate based on current ingredient specifications and understanding of AAFCO regulations

  • Understanding of feed manufacturing processes

The expected salary for this position is $150,000 - $175,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.

Minnesota Sick and Safe Leave accruals of one hour for every 30 worked, up to 48 hours per calendar year unless otherwise provided by law.
