POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for overall applied technical product support as assigned. This includes acceptance and in-field service for bus deliveries to our customers, including implementation of company policies, assisting in warranty situations, completing retrofits, training, gathering product failure information, and keeps general customer liaison. Reports to Field Operations Supervisor and RPSM. Working and learning with a full 310T field service technician.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Understands and uses the New Flyer core values when working inside and outside the New Flyer organization.
  • Understands and follows Respectful Workplace rules.
  • Follow all applicable laws, arrive for assignments on time and follow all New Flyer travel policies
  • Travel to work site locations assigned by Field Operations Supervisor and RPSM.
  • Attend training assigned by Field Operations Supervisor, Field Service Trainer or Field Technical Specialist.
  • Maintain a toolset sufficient to do repair work on New Flyer buses. (wrench sizes up to and including 1”, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and repair all OEM systems as assigned by Field Operations Supervisor and RPSM.
  • Assist suppliers in troubleshooting assigned by Field Service Team Lead and RPSM.
  • Perform retrofit work assigned by the Field Service Team Lead and RPSM.
  • Operate and maintain service vehicle if provided.
  • Communicate the status of assignments daily through text or e-mail to Field Service Team Lead and RPSM if travelling to customer site or
  • Report all issues affecting New Flyer product or business to the to Field Service Team Lead and RPSM.
  • Maintain tracking documents as assigned by Field Service Team Lead and RPSM.
  • Review iBus website regularly.
  • Utilize Service Cloud for starting and ending workday.
  • Utilize Service Cloud for starting and completing repairs with adequate notes pertaining to the repairs made.
  • Make sure all repairs are documented and closed in the Service Cloud.
  • Learn to use all software to complete daily job.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Travel – 100%

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • High School, Trade School or equivalent
  • Started apprentice program or close to finish the apprentice program
  • Diagnostic tools, hand tools,
  • Good theoretical knowledge of transit bus electrical, mechanical, air system, hydraulic systems, HVAC systems, CAN/J1939, 608 certification, ASE transit certifications, CDL license.
  • Must be able to perform workman/mechanic duties
