About the role

This is a new role providing finance and operational support to our US team, while collaborating with our UK teams. Our US team is small, but growing, with people working remotely across sales and customer experience roles.

This is a generalist role, taking responsibility across all areas of finance and other operational business support in the US. You’ll be at the heart of our business operations for our US team and be instrumental in shaping the growth of our team, our financial processes, and how we operate.

What you'll do

Finance

You’ll have responsibility for a wide range of tasks across the finance function, including:

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable.
  • Processing payroll in a timely and efficient manner, liaising with our provider (ADP), and being the point person for any queries from US employees.
  • Reviewing and analysing financial reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Processing month-end prepayments and accruals.
  • Processing all relevant filing for sales, franchise, and annual federal taxes.
  • Forecasting and reporting, including Groups responsibility.
  • Project work to help us grow.

General Operations

You’ll provide administrative and general support to the business, including People Operations. Responsibilities will include:

  • Working with our UK-based Office Manager to coordinate on- and off-boarding employees, including delivery and collection of company equipment.
  • Supporting the virtual ‘office’ needs of our US employees to ensure everybody can collaborate well remotely and support productive working.
  • Coordinating team events and associated venue bookings and travel arrangements.
  • Supporting the Head of Finance with company secretarial needs for our US company.
  • The US-based ‘point person’ liaising with our UK teams on various compliance and contractual responsibilities, e.g. insurance, data protection, risk assessment.
  • The first point of contact via phone and email for general enquiries.
  • Providing administrative and logistical support to the business, e.g. coordinating with Marketing on events preparation.

About you

  • An all-rounder with a can-do attitude – you can turn your hand to anything that is given to you and independently figure out what is needed to solve novel challenges.
  • High resilience and adaptability, able to multitask and prioritise high workload effectively in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
  • A bias for action, with demonstrable experience proactively taking initiative to improve systems and processes
  • The willingness, ability, and motivation to turn your hand to a wide variety of tasks.
  • Comfortable working in a geographically distributed team.
  • Experience working with stakeholders across all levels of the company and external stakeholders, such as suppliers or investors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organised and dependable.
  • Experience working in various facets of a Finance department.
  • Good Excel skills.

Bonus points if you have

  • Experience in producing reports and analysis for stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a geographically distributed team.
  • Experience in a startup or scaleup environment.

What you’ll get

  • Salary $55,000-$65,000 dependent on experience
  • Generous PTO allowance of 20 days plus public holidays on top.
  • Comprehensive healthcare plan.
  • 401k
  • At least $1,400 per year to spend on professional and personal development.
  • Weekly All Hands meeting for inspiration and over-communication.
  • Monthly team events (sometimes in-person, sometimes virtual).
  • Innovation Week twice a year - a chance to experiment and work off-project.
  • Volunteering time – up to 20 hours a year to participate in volunteer work.
  • At least one trip per year to our Edinburgh HQ, in Scotland.
  • Genuinely nice, smart people to work with, who are excited about growing our company.

Working Details

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week).

This is a remote position in the US, with a preference for someone in the New Jersey tri-state area. The role will require some in-person logistical support which may require some travel.

Join the team!

Equality of opportunity is more than just a responsibility: we believe it’s a huge advantage to welcome a variety of experiences and perspectives into the team. Diversity is a great asset and, as such, we strongly encourage applications from any background.

This is your opportunity to really influence how we get things done, and how our US company grows. We're doing well, but there's lots more to do in order to maintain the high bar and pace that we've set.

Everyone here is growing personally as the company grow, so if that sounds like something you’d like to be part of, we’d love to see your application.

In your cover letter, please include detail of why you are interested in this role at Dayshape, and how it fits with your career plans.
