Role Overview
As a Freelance (Contract) Verifier (EU ETS), you will perform independent verification of operators’ emission reports and monitoring systems under the EU ETS Directive. Assignments include both desk-based reviews and onsite assessments across Europe. You will collaborate with SCS B.V.’s technical team while maintaining professional independence and impartiality.
What You Will Do
Conduct verification of emission data and monitoring systems in line with the EU ETS Directive, ISO 14065, and EA-6/03. Perform onsite verifications for installations in the following ETS activity groups: Group 3, Group 4, Group 5, Group 6, Group 7, and Groups 8–9. Apply appropriate sampling and materiality assessments. Produce clear, detailed verification reports supported by robust evidence.

Requirements
Qualified or trainee EU ETS Verifier under an EU NAB-accredited conformity assessment body
At least 2 years of professional experience conducting ETS, GHG, or related industrial verifications
Technical degree (engineering, environmental science, chemistry, or related field) – or equivalent professional experience in relevant sectors
Solid understanding of ISO 14065, EA-6/03, and EU ETS verification requirements
Fluent English, plus working proficiency in Dutch, German, or Spanish (additional European languages an advantage)
Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools (Teams, Zoom, etc.)
Residence within Europe and willingness to travel regularly for onsite verifications Benefits
