The Moderation organization’s mission lies at the core of Reddit's success as a platform: we build features that enable moderators to create and grow meaningful, destination communities. Moderators are a key pillar of Reddit’s success, and act as community leaders and tastemakers, ensuring there’s something on Reddit for everyone. This team drives several core product metrics for the entire Reddit ecosystem.

Please note that is position is only eligible for candidates located in Canada and within these select provinces (Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Ottawa)

What you’ll do

  • Drive new features from end-to-end through prototyping, validation, implementation, launch, and continuous iteration.
  • Help craft a modern user experience for accessing content and communities on Reddit.
  • Contribute to a Reddit design system, a component library paired with UI best practices and tools for our design team to enable teams at Reddit to work faster and at a higher quality bar.
  • Help build the technical foundation for future features and experiences.
  • Focus 80% of your time on frontend development and 20% backend when needed.

What We Can Expect From You

  • 3+ years of experience in web application development using JavaScript, TypeScript, or other relevant language.
  • Experience with one or more front-end web frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular
  • Experience with Web Components or LitElement is a huge plus, but not required.
  • Experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g. JavaScript, Typescript, Python, Java, Go, Scala).
  • Deep experience with a modern web stack, whether it's Javascript bundlers, React internals, etc. You've debugged it, you've improved it, you can imagine doing it better.
  • Familiar with software engineering best practices such as unit testing, code reviews, design, and documentation.
  • Passion for developing scalable, well-designed software that improves people’s lives globally.
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit. You are self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments. You love to build new things and thrive in ambiguity and even failure.
  • Excellent communication skills. You collaborate effectively with teams in a fully remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • BS degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Be part of a team that’s building a highly scalable, high quality, and low latency web platform at Reddit’s scale.
  • Partner and collaborate with partner teams to deliver high quality UI components
  • Tackle tough design and product problems.
  • Work cross-functionally with design, product, and engineering to deliver great user experiences.
  • Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch. You’ll be reviewing code and design docs, and giving feedback on product specs and mocks.
